I have been fine tuning my ritual for a long time... First, Its gotta be grinded, and good. Meta hand grinder is good, coffee grinder is better. I pack most bowls full, no more than I can take in one hit though.

I prefer a butane torch lighter held at a great distance so that it just lights, no flame touching the weed, but a bic does suffice.

Strength of inhale is moderate, slow and strong.

I hold it in long enough to put the bowl back in the bong and set it down, maybe 3 seconds...

I dont smoke "community" bowls because I get more efficiently baked off my way, I like green hits, and take to big of hits, it wouldnt be fair.

I'm almost always smoking with one other person, sometimes its a group of 3, and I rarely smoke in large groups anymore. When I'm with just one other guy (who typically also has a very high tolerance) we usually weigh out .35 to .45 of top grade and divide that into two bowl packs. We take huge tokes so it usually only takes a short while to smoke.

A lot of people claim to need to smoke more in one sitting then that (it comes out to roughly .2 each) but I inhale very very deeply and take very large rips.

With my bong atleast, it milks very fast and I pull hard for a good while completely milked and then I carb the bong really fast and hold it in a good while.

As far as lighting it goes, the buds always grinded very well and and I light the whole bowl for about a second until the whole bowl starts to cherry itself as one.

I am a believer in the idea that the bong capacity is the size of the hit. I fill it to capacity and inhale it in one go. I don't really even use a bong, I use a Zong with a double Z neck. I cannot stand bongwater touching me. Thats nasty.

I like to fill the base of my bong half way with water and then the neck with ice. If I want to get ripped I'll hold the flame to the weed until it is burned away. It usually takes a full lung full to kill the bowl. I hold it in for about 3 seconds and exhale out my nose without lifting my mouth from the bong. Then I clear it.

If I'm just kicking back and relaxing I take small bong rips off the corner of the bowl. Rotate, take another, and repeat. That way I get a good dozen hits off it, and it never gets gross cause every hit is green.

You must exhale fully before you hit anything. there is no experienced smoker that hasnt met a clown who donst inhale the smoke and leaves it in there mouth. Exhale, pull whatever you have, then inhale. bored? then play chicago in a car to hot box it out. Chicago is where you can only Exhale your smoke when the opposing player chooses to exhale his. If you lose on a regular basis the term "bitch" shall be aquired.

Weed gets so slow for me during the winter. come this may me and 10 foot stalks will be reunited.

the ritual...
open bag, take a wiff
grab some nugs
turn them over to decide if i like that one.
grind it up, any grinder, i have a really good plastic one that kiefs well.
pack it up, i usually grind up atleast enough for maybe 2 bowls.
hit it, hold it, pass it.
usually it passes around some, or i wait maybe a minute or two between hits.

as for the preperation, i need a drink, anything but milk will do, and milk suffices sometimes. i cant drink the tap water here, if you only knew what was in it.
Arizona Juice is the shit, 99c for a double can of the best juice ever. Gotta get watermelon, or grape. Cherry Dr. Pepper is nice too.

hold the hit for maybe 5 seconds, put the bowl back, pass it, hold it a second longer.

as for the weed, the cool thing is i use/roll on a wooden chessboard, so its a large flat area, very useful. When i grind up a lot of weed, i like to shape my mound into something, circles, squares, pentagons, yesterday it was a 3.5g paisley pattern, triangles, just to pretty things up a bit.

packer has first hit, and deuces can be called, but only in rotation, and second bowl goes opposite direction. and it continues in that way.

music is always on, pandora, or iTunes, something. Bone thugs is nice, most people are ok with it even if they dont like the genre as a whole.

something to try, turn the tv on, mute it. turn your favorite music on. smoke, watch tv, listen to music. its the best way, you can decide your own story, while the music is pleasing.

oh, and do the hot water bong trick. trust me, its completely worth it. turn your tap to the hottest you can put your hand in the water, not too hot, your bong is glass, and you still have to hold it mind you.

its smooth, and refreshing. nothing like what instinct tells. no naysayers unless you are experienced, and then there wont be any naysayers.

plus, its a good reason to fill your bong with fresh water each session.
