I am new to using fox farm nutes and read somewhere that I should start with half the amount listed on fox farms feeding schedule and work up to full strength, is this true? Also should the nutes be mixed fresh everytime you use them or can I premix large amounts ahead of time?

Always best to start a nutrient regimin slowly. If you give the recommended dilution and it's a tad too much...the plants will suffer. Tiz always easier to add more if need be, than to have to flush an overdose.
In my growroom, I use Fox Farms and their schedule, and start the youngsters on 1/2 dose, once a week for a couple of feedings. I then go half strength, twice a week. Ends-up being the same quantity as doing one full weeks worth, but makes it easier for me to adjust dosages if need be. (depending on the strain) Plain, properly ph'd water inbetween if necessary.
NOTE: I also go half of what they indicate for the Big Bloom, and add 1/2 to 1 tsp molasses on a plainwater day.)
Only mix what you'll likely use that day. It tends to go bad fairly quickly otherwise. No need to mix full gallon doses, either. It's just as easy to mix a quart, if you do the math correctly, lol.

Thanks rusty! So you do not go by fox farms schedule in the begining. when do you actually start using the nutes? I am growing in soil from seed.

The first month for clones 1/2 to 2/3 strength is plenty if the water is ph'd correctly. I have found that after 30 days you can go to full strength every other watering without having any adverse affect on the plants.
If you are growing from seed because of the size of the plants 1/2 strength is plenty every other watering. After the first month or so depending on plant size you can step it up gradually to you reach full strength.
No matter what strength of Fox Farms nutes you use it is extremly important to ph the water correctly after the nutes have been added to the mix. If you do not own a Ph pen now is a good time to invest in one. This simple little device when used correctly will save you a ton of heathache no matter what nutes you use.
I know from experence about how much water my plants use per week and I will mix that amount in advance like on a Sunday afternoon, and since the feeding schedule changes form week to week that's about as far in advance that I go.

I have a liquid ph test kit but would like to get a pen but where can I get one of those, I have not seen those anywhere around my town. my ph ofmy water after adding nutes is at 6.2-6.5 pretty close to being good.
