Thanks for your help. The cutting is in my window, I've already removed the rest of the plant. I've been looking around and I found a guy that dos the same thing for his pollen. It seems that if the male plant is far enough into flowering the sacks will open in a last ditch effort to spread pollen. He doesn't even keep the cutting on 12/12, though I'll continue to. It's not rooting, but the sacs appear about to open. He just cuts a hole in a plastic cup to fit the stem through(to catch the pollen), then puts the stem in a glass of water and voila. Says he's been doing it for years and it takes up less space than keeping a whole plant separated from the pack.
