Penalty for Receiving Shipped Marijuana?

A friend of mine was curious what the Penalty is if the USPS intercepted a package with MJ in it. Would he and the person shipping it be in trouble or what? Thanks for the help!

It would normally be an automatic felony because a federal agency was used in the course of the crime. Be careful. Its safer to use fedex or ups but the big difference is they get to OPEN your package if they feel something illegal is being transported. The USPS has to get a search warrant to open it.

out of state trafficking is a bigger deal, it depends how much it was for though. if it was under a pound you still might be looking at a felony but maybe not as severe as a pound or more.

ive had friends be successful doing that but i dont think i could ever try it... i would prefer to drive my money there and my buds home with me than to be lazy and hope something works, drivings half the fun anyway

ok i guess im what you might call an old guy but the fact remains that no matter where you live the federal goverment considers marijuana illegal, so from my years of experiance i have learned one very very important lesson: do no take unnecasary risks.

The person shipping the package is responsible... You are not responsible for what somone else sends you....unless you the reciever signs for the package.....dont sign for any package if you know theres something in it and you know you werent supose to sign for

UPS the package can magically dissapear.... and whos going to go down to ups and file a claim????

It is a felony. Plain and simple. Expect jail time. Lots of it.

The only "safe" way, is paying for extra shipping and encasing it in wax. Even this shit isn't very safe. It will fool a drug dog "so I have heard" but drug dogs are notoriously bad anyway.

Just don't do it.
