Decriminalized in MA, can I get in trouble for buying?

Weed is decriminalized in Massachusetts. I'm thinking about posting an ad on Craigslist to find a connect. I know under an ounce is only a $100 fine. I'm willing to risk the $100 fine for possession, but does purchasing it fall under a different law?

I just want to make sure that a $100 fine is all I'm risking. If that's the case, they wouldn't even setup a sting for $100. I have ADHD and weed is the only thing that helps me focus.

Not so fast my friend. POSSESSION (up to an ounce) is decriminalized, the sale of marijuana is still a criminal offense.

    Massachusetts - NORML

I'd be the buyer. If you are the buyer in the transaction, is a $100 fine all that can happen?

Decriminlization is pretty new so I'm not 100% on this but my understanding is that if they catch you in the process of making the transaction then even for the buyer it falls under the category of "sale" rather than "possession" meaning it's criminal, rather than just a fine.

This seems counter-intuitive because how are you going to get the pot if it's illegal to buy it or grow it? A non-profit transaction, like a friend giving you some for free I guess. Obviously this is unlikely.

Also - Craigslist just seems like a bad idea since it's so public. You may not be aware but MA has one of the highest percentages of admitted marijuana users in the country. It's definitely a challenge if you don't have a big network or are shy, but if you actually try to ask around you should be able to find it.

Ok so really funny story. I posted a listing in "farm and garden" asking for "trees and weeds" LOL. I didn't get any replies. I also posted in abunch of other categories but no luck in those either. I tried being discreet and blunt, pun intended.

I inserted an invisible tracker into my craigslist posts so I could see the IP, location, and some other information of the people viewing my post. Whenever someone from a business viewed my listing, I was able to see which business they were viewing it from. I was able to see if anyone was viewing it from a police station too. Which actually didn't happen even once, surprisingly.

I have a big pile of trees and brush you can have. It's located in Saugus. I need to move it soon so if youre interested I'm sure we can work something out. There are 4 full trees already down, need to be chopped and a large pile of brush and weeds.

Give me a call if interested.

I just dont think any dealers are going to jump on the idea of helping out a random posting on Craig's list

In Ohio it is decriminalized too but you can go to jail for paraphernalia so you need to download the law itself to be sure in what you do.

Ive seen ads on craigslist regarding these things, in California.

Its going to bring you more attention than just your local law enforcement, that seems to have decriminalized pot possession. Besides that, Craigslist itself will contact the there internet police, just to get the liability off of them. Maybe some fancy wording or something could help you, But I would still be extremely careful posting a pot wanted ad somewhere.:wtf:
