Civil War Moives?
I'm watching "Dances With Wolves" and a question just came across my mind..
Are there any movies that take side from the Confederacy? I've looked throughout the internet and I couldn't find anything myself.
If anyone can answer my question that'd be great! :thumbsup:KyleIsNorml Reviewed by KyleIsNorml on . Civil War Moives? I'm watching "Dances With Wolves" and a question just came across my mind.. Check out "Gods and General's" , Basically the story of Stonewall jackson, its a long one! Also check out "Gettysburg", I would also suggest watching Gods and Generals First as you are trying to get more of a confederate side view as the movie Gettysburg takes place AFTER God's and Generals but you will notice Jeff Daniels in both. Actually a lot of common actors are in both, but they are the BEST civil war movies made in the past 10 years or so i would say.

Civil War Moives?
I'm not all the interested in The Union Army just more or less The Confederacy
But Italiano I appreciate it a lot, I know that site also had The Confederacy Side in the those dvd's presented, I book marked that page and I wanted to thank you for everything in all! Just everything that I have learned in High school about The Civil War was mostly propaganda and everything that you read or hear about The Confederacy is 9 times out of 10 incorrect.. that may be hard to agree with for some but I have southern heritage and born with southern blood and I don't think my family would lie to me, although I may not have such a strong southern accent and nor was I born in the south itself but it's the heritage thats the point that means a lot to me and for all of you that don't know.. if you were to draw a straight line from east to west on Arizona the bottom half of Arizona was once occupied by The Confederacy! Thats something you never learned in school! or at least these days
All in all I just wanted to thank you Italiano and RobPA(Thanks a ton for also not asking why I wanted to know of some movies because usually I have been in various conflicts because "Everything" that I have said about the south was "Wrong" :wtf:..
Until then, take care my friends..

Civil War Moives?
check out glory.
i don't think i saw it mentioned above.
"Based on the letters of Colonel Robert G. Shaw. Shaw was an officer in the Federal Army during the American Civil War who volunteered to lead the first company of black soldiers. Shaw was forced to deal with the prejudices of both the enemy (who had orders to kill commanding officers of blacks), and of his own fellow officers."
this might not delve into the stuff that you are looking for, but it is the side you asked for. and it's a good movie. might be worth a watch.
oh, yeah, don't let people sitting behind keyboards ruffle your feathers. (ok, i don't have much room to talk, lol!)

Civil War Moives?
I have seen that movie in High School, great movie by the way. But I do appreciate your help and offer indeed. From what I have learned and in my own opinion The Civil War is a very controversial subject of matter.. just like anything else is these days! In high school you learn a lot of the good from The American Union not the bad and the bad from The Confederacy not the good. Everyone is seemed to make The Rebels as the bad guys but if you look at it The American Union was no good either.. The Confederacy may have had some issues but from what I've learned and was taught The Confederacy were the good guys behind The War. (If you do deep research you'll see what I mean) War in general is no good, but sometimes it's needed to be done for whatever cause and belief don't get me wrong. I do respect our both Veterans and the Soldiers that have passed on an the ones that are still around to this day, what I have said is not to disrespect by any means . In the end both The Union and Rebels realized that The Civil War was not to be fought.. sometimes no war is..
(I'm not giving you any lesson Head Shake, this is just in general and me speaking)
I do believe that you have misread possibly? You stated that the subject of matter you listed above which was "Glory", it was taken from The Union side if I do remember correctly and correct me if I am wrongBut I'm looking into an interest of The Confederate States of America's side of The Civil War in what you don't learn during school or much less t.v., Glory was from The American Union right? I believe so
Well anyways all in all like I have stated just to get my rambling finished off I wanted to thank you like I have the others! I really do appreciate it a lot

i haven't seen that movie since high school either, lol.
and you are right about the point of view. my mistake. i am sorry.
as far as history goes, it is written by the winner. so you are always gonna get a one-sided view from the powers that be. the winning side usually absorbs the losing side, therfore their story is not accepted, or heard for that matter. that's why we should always question authority and search for answers and then come to our own conclusions (i'm not preaching either brother, just a ramblin man, same as you!).
one of my favorite quotes, it's an african proverb actually;
"until the lions have their historians the hunt will always favor the hunted."
on another note, have you seen The Civil War by ken burns? i haven't but i'm sure it's good. ken burns is a respected film maker. it has been on pbs before. it might be worth a look. it's pretty long, and not a necessarily a feature film, might be more a documentary.
here goes another list for you.
good luck in your quest!
