Who cares what people get body mods for, it's their body. If they want to get a cool looking tattoo, that's their reason for it, you have no say over what reasons they get inked or pierced. Your opinion is not right or wrong. Let people make decisions for themselves, don't bitch and hate them because they got some flash off the wall or something they think will look cool but has no meaning.
