SAD light box - what do you think experts?

I was in my ma's loft yesterday looking for a spare lamp and found her light box that she uses in the winter to get over SAD (Seasonal affective disorder).

It's a pretty powerful light and I was wondering if it is suitable to use given that she won't be using it for a few months.

Here's a link to it: Brightspark - Lightboxes - Lumie

spec doesn't mention lumens but does mention lux which a quick wiki check suggested it was a better light meter check than lumens as it takes into account distance from subject. it's 10,000 lux at 20cm which seemed like quite a bit.

Could someone let me know what you think please.

    cheers

Its only 48watts of flouro so it won't do much. It would work fine for cloning and vegging. You might get away with growing one plant under it.

haha folks use it when they get depressed by the lack of sunlight.

She seemed happy enough with it and it is very bright despite it's fairly low wattage which is why I thought it might be of some use especially as it as it it made to imitate the sun
