    ah In Flames....

hey guys, I was just wondering if anybody else here has a love of In Flames like I do . I just went to their site and discovered they've already written 12 new songs (fully) for the next album, which should be finished may (so they tell us), so I'm very excited . For those of you who don't know, they're a metal band from Sweden, referred to as power metal or melodic death metal.

Favorite songs: - The Quiet Place
    - My Sweet shadow (damn I love that one!)
    - Jester Race Transfigured
    - ...... ah hell too many to list.

well, their older stuff is popular primarily amoung major metal heads, very hard and fast (yet quite creative). their new stuff (reroute to remain, soundtrack to your escape) is more interesting, sort of industrial metal (and more popular with the general populace). there's some backing electronics, but it's not as forward as say rammstein. they're very dramatic in a lot of their songs now, but overall just great music to get a rush to or feel some real emotion. I suppose the closest band I could relate them to is soilwork, but still different. excellent music anyway. (they sing in english btw)

They're on the second stage of Ozzfest this year; if you're in the US and plan on going, don't miss them!
I didn't really like "Soundtrack to Your Escape" that much, though; the songs are pretty good for the most part, but the guitar work wasn't nearly as impressive as with the previous albums. And I like the electronic elements, but they should complement their kick-ass riffs and solos, not replace them. Still, though; kickass band.
