A lack of odor can be had in human urine samples as well as synthetic. Therefore, its against DOT (and DHHS) regulations for a lab to reject a urine sample on the basis of no odor.

However, DOT and DHHS does permit rejection of a urine sample if the collector catches whiff of any obvious foreign odor thats not supposed to be present in human urine (ie bleach, household chemicals, etc). When a collector notices this condition, the collector would order an immediate recollection under direct observation. The collector will then process both samples and indicate in the "Remarks" space on the CCF form that an observed recollection took place, and the reason(s) why.
