My friend has a very similar vape. He used a non-contact thermometer (Infrared Thermometer from Harbor Freight Tools, $24.99 USD) to verify the actual temperature at the tip of the ground-glass heating interface. This is very important to get consistent, good vape from it. (My friend sets his at 220° F on the front of the vape to get ~375° F at the tip of the heating interface.) Don't trust the reading on the vape itself until you have calibrated it with the thermometer.

Next, upon first use, it is wise to turn on the vape and let it heat up for the customary 10 minutes, and then sit at temperature for 15 minutes more before using. This will drive off the majority of the fumes held in the glues and other crap used to put it together in China. Once the fumes disappear, you can load up your whip and go for it.
