Budding Soon?
My outdoor plant is now about 18 inches tall with a thick main stem and several large branches extending outwards. I read somewhere that at about 18 inches tall the plant should bud. Do you think my plant will start budding soon? (Also, in the very top of the plant it smells very skunky and is turning a more lighter, fresher green).

Alright the reason why you haven't gotten a response is because this is a really basic question that's asked over and over. Cannabis flowers when a certain amount of darkness occurs during the day. For outdoor growers once it hits about 14 hours of darkness a day plants will begin to show signs of sex and soon begin to flower.
The thing is that the most outdoor growers have very mature plants by the time flowering comes (many people start in april and in the north flowering starts mid july - mid august) so the plants size or age usually isn't the reason for flowering be stunted.
So yeah your plant is definitely in good shape and is going to flower very soon.
Were here to help but you gotta read up a little more on really important things like flowering and how it works. Hope this helps :rasta:

Height has nothing to do with it. Light, has everything to do with it.
The bigger the plant when you reach 14 hours darkness means more of a yield.
So no worries over the size.....it's up to the skys! :hippy:

Check out the growing FAQs section on this website. Also you could google search things like the cannabis growing bible.

Budding Soon?
I germinated these two in mid June.. a little late I know but I live in So Cal so should be growing weather well into Oct. They look good to me, obviously two different kinds, I am attempting some pictures, and I would really appreciate any feedback from the experts! This is my first go at growing my own, and I have pretty much let nature take its course so far.
I have been feeding with miracle grow every 10-14 days (at HALF the recommended dilution rate) .. otherwise it's all glorious so cal sunshine..

Ok, im new also. First thing to do is read and read more. But you have a very nice plant sitting there, so we need to find out the sex. It will drive ya nuts looking. But sometime thats all you can do. In the mean time read everything, trust me. Can you get some closer pics, so i can look for pistils=female plant. Ya gotta learn the terms and meanings. Read my grow log, im new. You can see what happens when you arnt patient. Ya go nuts and ask questions that these guys have answered a million times and dont want to keep answering them, but if they see your reading and trying to help yourself, they will be all over you when you need it. A pistil is a small white hair looking thing growing close to the stem of the plant, where a branch might grow from and this is a node.
Look at the top under the green and you will see a pistil in this pic. I marked it, just clik on it or better yet, right clik and open link! It will be really big.
I will help as much as i can, but we gotta do this first cuz we dont want a male plant NO BUDS:wtf:
ps post closer pics so i can blow them up. Very nice plant, the one i had almost that big was a male and i chopped it down:wtf:

These girl brought on 27 april and planted 7 may 09. I am a first time grower. I am glad I started with outdoor. I hope to prefect indoor. I am currently establishing and cleaning a drying area. I have been reading is more important than the actual growing. I am a stickler for detail. Retired Army. My Girls follow all my orders. I am always giving them much TLC>:rasta:

Homerun....very nice! And yes, the drying and curing is very critical...as you can really screw things up if not done right and all your buds can go to hell. And may I say one other thing...now this isn't to erk you or annoy you but just to assist...I see in your pictures that you took them with a flash at night! ***DON'T DO THAT*** A simple FLASH at night can cause your beautiful lady to revert back into the veg phase and cause a hermie!!!
Stop flashing your lady...LOL...Seriously, that can cause you problems! Just trying to help you stay right! Oh, and another thing....ARMY RANGERS LEAD THE WAY! :s4: I am also ex-army!

yea I was thinking the same thing.. that is a awful lot of light for it to be nighttime. I dont know about a simple flash causing them to reveg or herm. but I know it doesn't take many minutes of light to do it... so be cautious.
