    Really worried about plants finishing

Whats up dudes? Right now I have a lot of different strains and I live in NY. I've been checking the weather a lot lately and it says there's gonna be 14 hours and 34 minutes tomorrow. I'm kind of not sure if they're gonna finish or not because I keep hearing that its gotta be 12/12 at least to flower?

My question is does absolutely have to be 12/12? Thats like 2 months away from now roughly and that they'd be starting at the beginning of September. I'm growing dutchpasson blueberry, masterkush, and white widow. I'm also doing nirvana AK 48 and barneys g13 haze.

For some of the plants it'll probably be okay but where i live the minimum temps in November are like 39f minimum at night by average which would be realllllly pushing it.

Oh yeah they're all like a month and half hold roughly I think.

Hey, man, I live in ny as well. 12/12 is just a common schedule for flowering and is mainly an indoor thing. Outdoors it really depends on the strain and its tolerences. Some plants will start to flower at 14hrs and some will flower a little later. Most strains in ny will begin to flower between mid july and mid august and will be finished between middle of september and middle of october. You'll be fine. Peace out

Alright well that's reassuring to hear.:rasta: Not that I doubt you or anything, but how much experience do you have growing outside in NY?

I can't cover them with cardboard boxes everyday the plants are too big and too far away.

86thcreator: alright cool I trust your knowledge then lol. What about the g13 haze though? it has a flowering period of like 12 weeks :wtf:

late october, maybe early nov., you'll just have to let it flower as long as you can before frost kills it, maybe it will be finished by then, roll of the dice. My bb/ak is asativa pheno, too, so it'll be finishing late.

Alright I guess I don't have to worry then. I really was under the impression that it had to be 12/12 or it absolutely wont flower.

I would recommend "marijuana botany" by robert connell clark or "the cannabis grow bible", also "marijuana question: ask ed" by ed rosenthal or his "marijana grower's guide", all good books. In nature 12/12 is not possible in many climates for cannabis to fully flower. At 12/12 the frost season is in effect. It is an ideal condition that indoor growers are able to provide. Others triggers naturally occur outdoors as well, including the onset of colder weather. You couldn't permanently keep any strain in a vegetative state. The plant becomes sexually ready and sensitive to any change in the light cycle. As the days begin to shorten they eventually fall into a tolerable threshold for them to flower. Generally mid july to mid august (14/10). Peace

Wow thanks dude this really clears up a lot for me. I have another question though, at what point when the preflowers begin to appear do you actually consider it to be fully flowering? It would helpful to know because I wanna keep track of exactly how many weeks they're into flowering so I can really guarantee a peaked harvest. I know you have to check for trichome maturity too, I'm gonna be watching out for that as well.

By the way this is my first time having plants that are actually going into flower and are females. Last year I only had one plant and it was a male but I didn't know until mid august and it was already 6 feet by that time. I've started some other plants successfully but all those were stolen/killed by weather eventually.
