The plants (ak-47x bb) are getting full sun until 1:45pm. And while the weather has been nice lately, during the spring as I said, depending on where you are in NY, we got the most rain we've had in over 100 years. I water when neccessary, if I believe it is way too dry and there hasn't bee much rain I will def. water, but I don't water every week, the roots need to spread out for water sources. The healthier the roots, the happier the plant. The soil is not clay but not exactly what you would call topsoil. At the beginning of the season I till up the soil with hand tools and add a few bags of perlite and dynamit slow release plant food which is more convenient to use and less conspicous than a jug of blue water to bring into the woods, lol. Anyway, my question is do you think flowering will help with the bug problems, kind of like a natural pesticide? Usually my plants get so big that after a while they grow too fast for the bugs to really have any impact. They outgrow the bugs.
