    Hawaii outdoor grow (small problems)

    Hi everybody,
I am growing some white widow purely medicinally and I have run into a few problems. The first two pictures are white spots that I have encountered on a few of the leaves; I have just been using a soapy water spray and it seems to be under control. The third pic is a leaf with a chomp in it, and I think it may be slugs but I'm not sure. The last two are some general pics to see if I'm doing a good job with my first grow. Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated...
    Thanks a lot,

    Hawaii outdoor grow (small problems)

    Hi Rider,

I appreciate the compliment. I'll do my best and hope that someone with MJ outdoor experience in HI will jump in (Weezard - where are you?).

First, I really can't tell anything much from your pictures. The close ups of the white spots are too blurry.

You mentioned small grey bugs? Are they still there? Without knowing what they are, or seeing them actually doing damage, you don't know that they actually did anything. The presence of a bug on an outside plant is not cause for panic unless you see damage from them. The odd small chomp is to be expected on an outside plant, usually no harm done.

Look closely at the undersides of your leaves, specifically on the new growth. Look for any webbing, specks, dirt, etc. If you see anything suspicious, try to get a magnifier or loupe to get a close look. Generally, insects present first in these area.

I understand your use of tobacco spray, but I would be really careful with that. Nicotine is a strong poison and some plants don't take to it well (not sure about MJ). Generally, just an insecticidal soap spray, without nicotine, will work on the average plant muncher. Be careful of the time you spray as spraying in strong sun can cause burning and leaf spotting. All that said, sometimes just a brisk shower with the hose and plain water will keep bugs at bay.

Do your plants stay in the same location or do you move them around? How long have these plants been blooming and when do you anticipate harvest?

All in all Rider, they look pretty good to me. Maybe some leaf burn from spray, a bit of overnuting, or even sunburn? I can't really tell from pics.

Maybe one of the "big guns" will look in. In the meantime, good luck.

I know you don't want to here from just anyone here but.

I don't see anything wrong with your plants other than being at the mercy of mother nature. The upper leaves look like they are dying off natural or nute burn just alittle. Looks normal for the end of the cycle. A few bugs trying to get high take a few bites, normal. Spots maybe from water in the sun burning them.

Overall looks like you will have some sweeeeeeet smoke there. And living in Hawaii tooo. Damn wish I could go back. Won't be long before you give them a try. Sweet Dreams.

Is the white stuff powdery to the touch? (mildew?)

Have you checked the roots to see if they are rootbound?

Are they sativa doms that may require lower doses of the Tiger Bloom?

Have you tried adding 1 tsp:gallon of molasses of feeding days? (many micronutes, iron, magnesium, calcium...) A good compliment to the Fox Farms.

How long have these plants been blooming and when do you anticipate harvest? They have been blooming for about five weeks, and I am going to harvest based on when the pods are swollen.

I think maybe it was all three of those things.

    I'm with Dave.

No worry, Crabby has your back, brah.
    My :twocents:?
    Eschew the tobacco.
And the Foilar feedin' if you plan to make hash or budder.
Roots eat, leaves bask and breathe.
Da only need to foilar feed is severe deficiency of a "mobile" nutrient.

Hawai'ian tap water has about 120ppm at least on da west side.
Needs a li'l CalMag during flower.
I see you use Molasses, that should help.
    And dem spots?
    Need mo' betta picture, please.

You really shouldn't be seeing tiny black spots on the underside of any of the leaves. This makes me suspect that you might have thrips. You need to take a close look (loupe or magnifier) and see if those specs are moving around.

If you need to treat the plant(s) again, move them out of the sun or do your spraying at night.
