few cloning questions
so i had planned to clone one of my females few weeks back ...i went and got rooting horomone and such, but as i continued to research info, the closer it got to flowering time..
I heard that cloning can possibly turn her male or stunt it,etc.
This is the main thing that stuck in my head,as i wasnt sure if i was ready to risk a mother for 4 babies that MAY or MAY NOT make it (but i guess any real mother should be willing to die for her children, right)
Anywayz, are any of these facts proven true to anyones expeience?
Im still interested in cloning though, but because i only have one grow area (Grow Tent) running 400hps ,im kind of weary about were to store them for rooting since im limited space.and since i just started Flowering 3 days ago, that just brings on more questons.
I do have some 65w flourescents,as well,and i am using Rockwool.
My Questions are..
-will the cloning make her male?
-exactly how much light they need? (i.e. flourescent, or Window Light, etc?)
-I using DWC in a Grow Tent, so can I put them directly in res with other 2 mothers, fom NO roots to harvest?
-Will the shade from the 2 mothers supply enough shade for them to survive until they root since they are fairly large? Or is the HPS just too much?
-What are drawbacks (if any) of cloning @ early stage of flowering..
i say this because if i still choose to clone,i will have to use 12/12.
or i guess i can try to store them until the next run after the current harvest.
Any help or expeience is appreciated.blackmoney Reviewed by blackmoney on . few cloning questions so i had planned to clone one of my females few weeks back ...i went and got rooting horomone and such, but as i continued to research info, the closer it got to flowering time.. few cloning questions
How do you know it a female to mother ?
At this point in the game it is possible but I would not do it if I didn't have a place to set them up. cloning under 12/12 hps is a bit much, it can be done but take much longer. If the plants are big enough then it will not hurt them at all. They are going to double or triple in size when flowered.
It only takes a small space to clone. Clones don't really need the light as the energy goes to making roots clf's or fluro's work fine.
Just remember 1 to 2 weeks cloning and then you have 6 weeks to veg. You need another tent for that.
I have seen a guy that takes cuttings and keeps them in the fridge for up to 90 days in a wet paper towel in a plastic bag. They rooted up nice just 2 weeks before harvest and ready to veg in his room.
I tried that and ended up with them in my salad for diner. LOL wife thought they were fresh greens. I guess they were. lol

putting clones in stasis in the fridge does work, have done so on numerous occasions and have not lost 1 yet. take clone cutting the same way everyone in the world does and place it in a ziplock bag, put in crisper drawer of fridge. once a week do an air exchange for the clone by opening bag and let air circulate for a few seconds, close bag and put back in drawer. I have kept them up to 8 weeks like this and rooted everyone

You would want A metal halide not a high pressure sodium. Slows or home de-pot has 400's for about 25 bucks. Keep it far away.
For 80 clones I would only need a 2 foot 4 tube coolwhite flouro's. Cheap.
Or a 2 foot 4 tube T5 HO, even better but about 160 bucks and your choice of bulbs.

few cloning questions
Cloning won't make her male unless the strain is so hermaphrodite biased that she could just turn for no reason, in which case you'd be better off getting a different strain.
Basically, don't worry about cloning stressing the plant, animals step on plants, munch on them, things like that all the time, taking careful cuttings isn't too much of a stress to the plant.

Now that's a good man. Giving clones to the needed. I try to help but in this part of the country you have to be careful. Wish we had some clubs.
