If a friend gives me a clone of White Widow, I can look for information about that strain, and I can look for other people who have experience growing it. Can't really say you could do that back in the day.
I would hypothesize that 90% of the strains we are smoking today came from your weed back then. If that is true, then does that mean that all the breeding and selection that has been done since has isolated worse plants than you smoked back then?
Humbly, I don't think so.
If you are smoking what you are smoking because of a name, I feel bad for you. The name is just there so if you find something you like, you know what to ask for again.
My intention isn't an argument, but this isn't the first time someone has said that weed has gotten worse over the years. But all the reports I read, scientific or otherwise, indicate that marijuana is significantly stronger on the whole than it was years ago.
Just one growers opinions...
