medical MJ pricing question is it for the sick or for people who want to get High

Hi I am new to this forum, I am also a new MJ card owner. I think it is amazing, but I have some questions about the over all system of medical MJ. I ask these queries to better apprehend the nature and direction the medical marijuana throng is going.

In the medical MJ community is there out reach to people with AIDs, Cancer, Lupus and other conditions that help make marijuana more affordable for such persons suffering from debilitative illness, and or injury, were marijuana could offer relief. I am very much for MJ to be legal, and I think it has both great medical and social benefits but just looking at pricing at face value in a collective I donâ??t see how these prices work for a person who is truly sick, and perhaps out of work with something such as AIDs. Is there not-for-profits or other group that help such people.

I'm sure there are groups out there that help but I don't know of them. But MJ has become big business now. Everybody wants to get rich off of it. A lot different than it was in the 60's and 70's. But its the natureof the country we live in. Your measured more by your net worth rather than your deeds.

how much does weed cost compared to marinol, if i use marinol i it cost over 1000 dollars a month, but 1000 dollars worth of weed lasts for four months

How much do you pay for your prescriptions

here in cali alot of collectives have compassion programs and such.

all collectives are not for profit. i think alot of people dont understand what notfor profit means. All meds in a collective come from the members (patients) of the collective. who are compensated for the overhead cost plus time and usually given an independent contractor 1099 then the cost is increased to cover rent on a facility and employess, the collective never makes a profit, the only people who get paid are employees and yes some of them drive nice cars and live in nice houses but usually med income is secondary and small, not to mention dont the people who put thier lives on the line everyday for you to have your good quality low side effectmeds deserve compensation. how much do presciption jockeys at pfizer make?

What you say is true in many ways but slanted I feel. Not for Profit, does not mean no profit it often means huge profit, and there is nothing wrong with profit, but perhaps in the pursuit of profit one can reach out to the communities in which one extracts this profit from. Until 2002 Mastercard was a Not for Profit that is when they put out an IPO to make their company public. Mastercard had one purpose profit. Yes it costs a great deal of money, space, and risk to provide cannabis for a collective. I doubt that most collective get â??allâ?ť, their products from members of the collective growing no more than 6 plants each as the sketchy CA law states... That is not to say they get products from criminal organizations, but some sort of major growing groups to keep up with supply, to me these people set price and my fear is that they will become the â??Newâ?ť Pfizers of medical Cannabis. Which is what happens to so many good things. I feel that for cannabis to avoid becoming just another big business it needs to put large amounts of out reach towards people who can benefit from its use, and do not have the means. I am not saying donâ??t make money. Just perhaps asking if there are those out helping people or is it just all about money.

there are alot of places that help, more often you must ask.

if everybody grows their own then noone person will get terribly rich.

but on the other hand it is an emerging industry and there are many opportunities, maybe we should be pushing more on research than legalization to get insurance to cover it. after this is america and were in the middle of the newest gold rush the hemp and cannabis industrial revolution LOL.

everybody wants to smoke but dont push the issue when its time to, their local politicians who place bans and moratoriums and make it hard and expensive to provide any service free or otherwise. then these same scared ass people complain about price and dont have any idea what it costs or what it took to get there they just want the spoils.

there are shiesty people everywhere and if you dont like paying market value grow your own. there is usually a reason you buy rather than grow and that is what you are paying for, your own setback not the meds.

in the end i think the pricing is for people who wanna get high
this is not towards anyone just a rant

Price does not matter to me as it pertains to my self. I can pay... As for those who are truly to ill to live a normal life it does bother me. I am new to the world of medical cannabis, and it seems to me a big gaping hole in perception of Proposition 215 is that many people view a huge part this movement is about people getting high, not about sick people, and if some time and money went to working with people who are to sick to grow, and to sick to work it would help a great deal in the P.R. War. And it would help people who really need it. This is really why I am asking all these questions to see if such things are going on, and if so why are they not out there more in the public eye.

It does not really matter what a thing is, all that matters is the way that it is perceived. And soon it would seem to me that this battle will move from sick people to taxes, to money, and in truth once that happens those small stake holders in this new gold rush will loose everything they have worked for, the people who are sick will loose to the already messed up medical system. If Prop 215 was used in a more grass roots way I think things would be better for everyone it may work like that now and I just don't know but I live in a part of Los Angeles, and it seems like a Co-op is on every block. That is all many people see are super hi end sellers of hi grade pot.

there are many patients groups out there, i give 10%of each yeild to various patients in the riverside mapp who are too sick or disabled to do it for themselves. we also help with doctors lawyers and many other things in the mmj community.

you live in los angeles where im sure there are many more illegal and under handed people trying to get rich, its not really like that in the burbs. palm springs, victorville and retirement type places is more hippy wit it

See to me that is cool people helping people out, yes we should all make money for our efforts. But we should not say fuck all else other than that cash. It is nice to hear... Good luck and I checked out your plants they look sweet. I wish more people had a tale to tell like yours. To me that is what people should be talking about, more. Sounds kind of strange I have my reasons for thinking this is such an important topic but thank for sharing.
