10 foot x 10 foot, please weigh in

I am setting up a room that has 10 feet by 10 feet of usable space. I am planning on using 1000 watters. I have read on this site and on manufactures claims contradictory things about the area each light can cover. I have read 4 x 4 and 5 x 7. In your experiences, would I want to go with 3 or 4 1000 watt lamps for this size space.

Also, If I were to have two of these rooms, would that kind of over the top wattage be a red flag to leo. I live in a medical state and I doubt they are trying to hard to prosecute us but I just thought I would ask.

I appreciate your input. I am growing kush by the way if strain matters for this discussion

IMHO if you can run four and control the heat, more light=more growth. Are you going to mix hps/mh or are you gonna go straight hps?

Asking if you are going to red flag leo is like rolling dice. How big is your house? Are you a renter? What is the electrical history like? I would think that a 10K watt surge in use without the square footage to justify it is a possibility of getting on radar. In other words, too many variables for us to predict for you, but follow your gut. If you are in a medical state, you should look into going legal with it so you don't have to sweat.

Yeah the legal thing here in Cali is very grey right now. Legally I can grow up to 6 plants only under the current law. Currently the state charges a $50 per ounce tax on medical sales and talk is of just legalizing it and making it a $50 p/ounce tax across the board. I would gladly pay Arnold $50 per ounce if I can grow with impunity........lol.

But the writing is on the wall and the it's really only a matter of time. 3 years ago there was one pot club around here, now there is literally one on every corner like a 7-11 and the med recommendation is just a formality a lot of the time, at least in my neighborhood. LAPD don't really care about MJ users as much anymore either. You have to piss them off for them to hassle you. They seem more interested in gangbangers these days and that is fine with me. Just a matter of time before it happens.

But any way, no I own the house so no landlord issues. We are good about keeping consumption down and we were running a lot of printing equipment that was power intensive before but only 20 hours of use a month so I don't know if that is enough to offset the increase. After a crop or so I was planning on investing in some solar panels to drop off the usage.

And yes, I was going to MH for veg and HPS for flowering. Heat control we got pretty good. House is well insulated, AC is very efficient and with a little work I can dispose of the heat and smell through a big ass roof exhaust fan that happens to be conveniently placed just above my grow rooms. If I pump it into the attic the big fan will suck it all out.
