All show, no go?????
What does it take to get the one's dragging their feet to move forward and free people from this needless prohibition??? The Iranians took to the streets to protest an rigged election, and we Americans sit on our asses while we get steamrolled by an overbearing, do nothing gang of legislators who continue to promote a war of prohibition against its law abiding citizens for smoking or ingesting a natural substance.

All show, no go?????
i found this in a backwater of my computer. i'm not sure when i wrote it and i have no idea what my state of mind was at the time, but it seems to fit in this thread.
it should be obvious by now that nothing really changes and, though we may hope for a more rational way of dealing with our problems, all the promises are nothing but illusion. rhetoric for the sake of control, ignorance in the face of absurdity and a desperate clinging to preconceptions are the way power is handed down from one set of usurpers to the next. what is of no use to the power brokers is labeled "dangerous" and any proof to the contrary is either considered suspect or completely ignored. it has always taken some sort of anarchic revolution to loosen government's hold on the lives of the people and it always will. the powerful must see the possibility of their control vanishing completely before they are willing to cede one iota of that control.
movements for medical and compassionate use are the halfway measures of sheep, too sedated by the wordplay of their masters to see their own bondage and too ignorant to realize that such prohibitions are merely the tip of the iceberg. as we allow our natural liberties to be stripped away for the sake of the illusory safety of our slavery to the bureaucracy, such measures seem but a dickensian cry of "please sir, i want some more" after everything but this meager gruel has been stolen from us. the very idea that we should have to beg for what is rightfully ours is a sickening commentary on the people's lack of will and unwillingness to sacrifice the illusion of comfort for the ideals of freedom.
we welcome the police state and beg to be treated as serfs. as puling infants, we grovel before the masters we installed for a thin slice of the pie we created and then handed to them for safekeeping. we celebrate as victory the right to crawl after giving up our wings and then pat ourselves on the back for a job well done.
