Are preflowers reliable to ID sex
This is out of the Marijuana Growers Guide-
"The presence of premature female flwoers does not assure that the plant is a female, but premature male flwoers almost always indicate a male plant. Unfortunately, it is much less common for male plants to develop premature male flowers than for female flwoers to appear on ether plant. For example, in one garden of 25 mixed variety plants, by age 14 weeks, 15 plants showed well-formed, premature flowers with raised stigmas. Eight of these plants matured into females and seven became males. Only two plants showed premature male flowers and both of these developed into males. The eight remaining plants did not develop premature flowers or otherwise distinguishable orgaans until the actual flowering stage at the age of 21 wees. From these eight, there were four females, three males, and one plant bearing both male and female flowers. It does seem, however that plants bearing well formed female flowers, on several successive nodes, usually turn out to be females."
How often would you say you found a female preflower but it turned out to be male?dimondmyne Reviewed by dimondmyne on . Never have we had a perflower female turn male and out of hundreds of plants it was rare to find a hermie. 1 in a 100 maybe.
If you have female perflowers take it to the bank. Unless you stress them badly it has never failed us.

I agree with the above posts. In my experience, ALL mine came out to be what they showed! Also, seemed my vigorous growing one(s) ended up male too, but I never go by that (just watch it carefully just in case).

I have had one clear female preflower became a major hermy this plant was covered in male flowers. It was out of unknown seed. Very rare. I have had a lot of experiance with the vigorous plants being female. I use to pick all the tall plants before, and most of the time they are male. However i have had many starts when the majority of the taller plants ended up female and since then i wait till preflower.
