I don't know about Canada but in the U.S. many states have programs in place for first time offenders but it isn't automatic. They go by different names from state to state such as pre trial intervention, deferred adjudication, judical diversion, etc. Yes, they may involve drug testing, a fine, and probation but if completed it will allow you to keep your record clean. Just because you go on probation or pay a fine doesn't mean you are going to come out with a clean record. You should try to beat the charge outright because you usually only get one chance at these types of programs but since the bong was right there in plain sight you might not have much ammo to fight with.

You should get a lawyer and try to fight it. If you can't fight it then the lawyer will help get you a deal from the prosecutor that you may be able to live with to keep your record clean which sounds quite possible. Don't just go into court and plead guilty and hope for the best. You might be able to get into a first time offender without a lawyer but here in the U.S. the first visit is usually free so you should go see a lawyer.

Also, if you were convicted and didn't receive such a program, you can't always get things expunged from your record once you plead guilty or are found guilty. If you are found innocent or the case is thrown out, you can definitely expunge it.

Like you say, I do not care about a couple hundred dollar fine, Its my record and my future career that Im worried about. I have been doing a lot of research on programs like you mentioned where if I fulfill the judges orders, I'll come out with a clean record. I hope very much they have that in my area. Im willing to do anything to have this all go away.

Learn from my mistakes people, dont assume the cops will just take your nugs and leave you be, I got dragged out of a house at 4am, arrested, thrown around, cuffed, and tossed in the back of a cruiser like a rapist for a little bit of grass and the thing is...I never thought it would happen to me. Maybe Canada isnt as canna-friendly as everyone claims and assumes.
