WHat is causing all these red hairs?
I have cultivated several types of strains and all of them have had an abundance of red hairs. The amount of red hairs is greater than it should be.
Im using the following nutrients.
floralicious bloom- for the 1st 3-4 weeks of flowering
Hydoplex/or Botanicare Sweet citrus/have also used carbohydrates
Botanicare flower/veg
Cal-mag
Powdered Kool bloom- at end only
Also Dutchmaster superbud or Gravity were used on seperate trials.
In several different harvests all of the buds have been covered in red hairs some strains slightly less than others. What is causing this? ThanksMagoo2003 Reviewed by Magoo2003 on . Without some pics to demonstrate you aren't going to get many bites.
I do remember back in 1994 I got a 1/4 oz where the nuggets seemed to be nothing but thick clumps of red hairs on stems. It had the strongest stinging sativa smell you could imagine in your wildest dreams. I assumed due to lack of obvious calyx's or resin that it might be a light smoke. Well I was wrong.. It was extremely 'bitey' on the throat and gave me an intensely heavy cerebral high. I named it 'Carpet' because it looked like a bag of orange 70's style thick pile carpet.
Needless to say I've never smoked, seen in pictures or person anything that resembles or compares to it again.
Sometimes I hate when there are no marbles.

It could also be the beginnings of bud rot....
Keep your humidity down, keep your temps down

WHat is causing all these red hairs?
I was always told that fully budded plants with tons of red hairs ment that it has been fully fertilized not sure if that is really true but it makes sense to me being that my last grow I had some tops that were really dense and yummy looking and then they self seeded and then good herb turned mediocre.. good question tho
