    cutting bottom branches (question)

well from my understanding and what ive read and experenced....

the point of trimming is to a>get rid of wilting leaves and those with no light or those who are doin the plant no good at all b> the plant needs so many leaves to live, by trimming a few of them the plant can diverte energy to vegging/flowering etc

do you have any pics of plants?

are the leaves turning or is the plant extremely leafy?

    WARNING dont trim too many
did this now i got hermies from stressing out the plant
my advise DONT DO IT just bend branches out of the way
I am now stressing over my entire crop being pollenated by the ONE hermie that i stressed by over triming

the point being to allow more air flow and so the plant can concentrate on the main colas
just get rid of the bottom 1 or 2 nodes so 2 to 4 branchs and this is something you do depending on strain and what type of plant you are trying to create
i know poeple on the boards will argue that removing the branchs will cause stress and decrease photosynthesis which id agree with if i hadnt seen the green house seed co grows on youtube those blokes trim the branchs and grow the biggest yeilding and overall best plants ive ever seen
theyve won 30 cannabis cups and they created white rhino

It depends on the genetics of the plant. Plants differ in their tolerance of shock.

    PS. Good advice Greenthing

I would grow your plant untrimmed (besides maybe a top pinch for branching) the first time. Then you have an idea of what your genetics do. If you see that the skinny lower branches don't amount to much you may chose to trim them. If you trim them and the plant responds with male flowers you won't know if you have a real hermie or you stressed it into a pollen sac or two.

I suppose it all depends on what you are after. If you only have a couple plants, leave it. If you are so dense with vegetation that things are getting nasty, trim until you have some breathing room.

I mostly trim whatever looks neglected or yellowed/dwarfed/sickly. Unless I have a tight ass scrog going. But in that case you have selected one type of plant for it's scrog-ability and it's probably not going to hermie or stunt due to stress.

Or...just cut it down, microwave it and tell all your pals that it was magical weed that they'll never try...EVER!
That's what I did on my first grow.
Think of your buds like chocolate chip cookies: some people like em crunchy and some people like em chewy. Personally, I want them tanned golden brown but not crispy....and no one likes cold raw dough in the middle of their cookie.

Lots of people prune off the lower branches or "lollipop" the plant. Works fabulously, but as said before it all depends on the strain as to how it will react.
