    DIY:flowering fertilizer/nutes!!

last year i didnt have money to buy nutes so i went searching
and found out that grapefruit rinds have LOADS of potassium
the main mineral you need during flowering, coffee grounds
have small, small amounts of nitrogen, phosphorous and miniscule
amounts of potash(which i'm told is also potassium) and egg shells
    are 93% calcium carbonate(A.K.A. lime)

    INGREDIENTS:
the rinds off of three grapefruits
a couple tablespoons of ground coffee
    the eggshells of two eggs

    EQUIPMENT:
    blender
    coffee filters
    large bowl
    regular bowl
    baggies
    kool-aid pitcher
    thats it i think?

sounds too good to be true ehh?
i had fantastic results as good as
if not better as store bought
    super bloom

1.i crushed the eggshells with my hand
getting them as small as humanly possible
(careful if you got sensitive hands those little
buggers will break skin if done wrong :])
and place in baggie for later

2.get out your blender and add your rinds
and your coffee grounds, fill about 3/4 of
the blender with water and liquify that
shizznit lol well no not totally it should
    look like a rough paste

3.get your regular bowl and a large one and
coffee filters LOTS of coffee filters

    4. get two count it two coffee filters and
cup them in your hand from the bottom
and pour some of your muck in there

    5. twist together the top and hold let the
initial ""water"" (orangeish color) flow when
the flow starts to slow cup the bottom
again and push up believe me it's the only way
to effectively drain the water without ripping the
coffee filter(when you turn it over it should look
like a mushroom) and put it in the small bowl
    DO NOT DISCARD!

    REPEAT UNTILL ALL DRAINED

6.now open up all your coffee filters put the
ground rinds in the bowl stir in eggshell's
then place in baggie and roll up one big
    "cake"

7.transfer "water" to some kind of container
thats got a cap but not by any means airtight
i used a kool-aid container and put in sun
    for about a week

    8. take out "cake" and put on a plate and also
put in sun untill mostly dry and you can just rip
a piece off and it just crumbles in your hand

    9. now most most of your water will be evaporated
and the will be a concentrate at the bottom carefully
    pour out water and

now you have a NUTE concentrate mix to mix with water

and a fertilizer to put on/in the soil
    works as mulch or fertilizer

one last note BE CAREFULLL THIS SHIT IS STRONG
    treat concentrate like super bloom

and dont use more then two teaspoons of the mulch/fertilizer at a time

    HAVE A GREAT TIME!!
    HAPPY GROWING!!

Bad idea putting uncomposted components into your pots or tea's, as the organic materials will rot causing problems down the road. Rotting and composting are different animals.

Aside from putting ingredients that are not composted into a tea, there is the strong possibility of e-coli and salmonilla from the food products, especially if the unrefridgerated tea is starting to 'go bad'. (rot)

Not at all sure if uncomposted food products break-down enough to make the nutrients something that the plant can uptake, either.

    But hey...good luck.

    i understand what your saying
i dryed them out on my roof though
and they didnt cause any harm
to my plant's last time and
i read that fruit farmers would
    put whole rinds around there
    plants to produce high yields
i'll try to find the link later

    and the kool-aid container
is now used souly for that
    purpose(and the plate kinda vanished)
so no worries:] for me atleast

NOTE: if planning on using kool-aid container/plate again
soak in a bleach solution of 3/4 cup bleach for every gallon
then wash with dish soap too

I say if your growing outside, go for it!
Like Rusty mentioned, the shells and such don't break down fast enough and may cause rotting if grown inside. Plus it might leave a smell inside you may not like!

I only do outdoors grow's seeing as i'm still living with my
parents so that hasn't been a issue for me

BUT thanks Rusty & Italiano for your feedback
i actually just made another batch today:thumbsup:

ANOTHER NOTE: For outdoor use only!

AND i'm still hunting down that link!

For those of you that think this is a good idea for indoors...think again.

Putting foodstuff in a pot of soil and letting it rot, is much different than putting a load of foodstuff in a pile and letting it compost before use. By the time it's composted, the heat and beneficials have made an intollerable situation for the pathogens that can and will do you harm, and the beneficial bacterium have broke-down the components to a form usable to the plant.

Drying-out the ingredients does nothing to prevent rotting. Eventually it will get wet again, and rot. Plus it does nothing for breaking-down the components to a form usable by the plant.
As a general rule...if it has not been composted, it does not belong in your soil. Period.

Oh...and by the way...after using your 'tea' make sure to use care when working with it, and the soil. Some foodstuff can and do cary pathogens like e-coli and salmonella, (which you have made the perfect growing enviornment for)
