sexing then re-veg..? for the pros and discussion
I've been trying to find as much information about re-vegging to get more insight on the inner workings of the plants. As mentioned in my root-a-fanleaf thread, my kids are 5wks old, on their 5th node.
1 plant was topped. 2 stems growing now.
4 were fimmed (or i attempted to). 1-2 days recent, so no idea of my success.
1, i am attempting LST.
Say in 2 weeks, I send them into flowering for 2 weeks on 12/12 to show signs of sex. What would be the impact of switching back to 18/6 as soon as I've determined sex (roughly 2weeks into flowering)?
I have a gut feeling the plants are gonna be like WTF
My original idea was to cut, root, and sex a few clones but they're only on their 5th node, and I dont want to f*** it up. Any suggestions?
I got 7 more germinating and on the way, and I'm looking to make some space in my 22gal bin.sheist Reviewed by sheist on . sexing then re-veg..? for the pros and discussion I've been trying to find as much information about re-vegging to get more insight on the inner workings of the plants. Conventional wisdom says it stresses the plant and may promote hermies. I used to do it all the time and didn't have any higher percentage of hermies than after I stopped doing it, so I don't know.

determining sex by forcing and revegging
pros - only need one light space
cons- can lose many weeks waiting for plants to revert
- can cause female plants to crack nanners (although this is usually only a problem in the first few weeks of revegging).
determining sex with clones
pros - donor plants get to continue vegging while clones determine gender
- sex is predictable in approx 3 weeks, sometimes less
cons- need to have two lit areas on different light cycles (although the clone space wont need very much wattage)
I've done it both ways but clone as a rule now... the little bit of extra work can save months if your girls don't readily revert to veg.
