new light no clue.
So i have been doing a CFL grow and i have done that before with good results. The bud is small and grows really slow but hey on a cheapo budget it was nice.
I have just got a 1000w MH with bulb for 100$
The only question i have and i look around the forms for a bit but i guess it might just be to simple... How far away should the light be from the plants?
I have it over about 5 plants, they have been doing poorly but i think with the added light they should be coming back to normal. My old set up was quite a joke.
I put a photo of my old set up... and one of the plants... Im very open to suggestions.stickyichy Reviewed by stickyichy on . new light no clue. set the bulb about 18 inches away from the top of the plants.....if you have a fan blowing on the plants you can get the bulb closer:hippy:
you want to box your grow area in.... for 1- 1000 watter try a 5x5 ft area....did your set up come with a hood?

Next time use larger pots. They look like they're root bound.

first. yes it came with a hood. So you are saying 18 inches above plants for a 1000 w bulb is ok? wont they burn?
Second ... well is it possible to replant them? they are about 5 days into flowering, or would that do more harm then good at this point?

I switch to the 12/12 light cycle; then, when the plants show their sex...I transplant the females into 3 gallon pots. This can take up to two weeks into 12/12 lighting cycle.

I know very little about MH lamps but, I would still caution you not to burn your plants as they are not used to that type or strength of light. Start further away and move closer over a couple of days, until you get to your optimum. :stoned:

high man, you need to do more research on your own bro. ...and you need to
post up some better quality pictures because it looks to me like you have some
kind of deficiency going on there, and it wouldn't be caused by your lights.
also, Metal Halide's are most commonly used for the vegetative part of the
life cycle, ...in flower, the light is too blue so you won't get the bud production
you should, ...not only that but, with the number of your plants, 1000watts
is way more than you'd need.
i've been a CFLer now for a couple of years and i've grown out some very
tasty buds using nothing but 23 and 26watt bulbs. ...you can also do a
google for 'DrBudGreenGenes', he has been growing for almost 30 years
and now, he grows strictly for head-stash so in a micro-grow environment,
and so he now uses only CFL's.
another thing, as was suggested by VapedG13, you should find some way to
box your grow, it'd be way easier to control temps, maximize your light
and prevent pests.
keep in mind that these are living ornanism's so, the better you care for
them, the greater they will reward you.
here is a pic of the good Doctor holding one of his plantlets, then a few of my
own CFL buds, and then, finally, a couple things you can do to box your grow in.

Thanks for the info. I feel as though i will just finish out this grow and then see what i can do next time. The grow box seems like a very nice project. I tried to do that at the start but ran into problems when i tried to set up a way to automatically water my plants.
My next grow will more then likely involve a box that i have constructed with good air flow.
Is is possible to get an adapter to change me MH to a high pressured sodium?
I think i was reading that somewhere but i also dont want to start a house fire.
