I think most of the good and bad things in our lives happen because we make them happen. Sure, there are a lot of external forces, but the way you handle them makes a big difference. For example, you can have a bad relationship, and yet, after a breakup, find yourself having the same kind of problems with somebody new. Why is that? Because you didn't learn anything from the first experience. Life doesn't come with an instruction manual, you have to study it. Letting yourself be carried along by events puts you at the mercy of random chance and the agendas of others. Make your own destiny, be as tough and as smart as you can; there are no demons or guardian angels.
