Hey everyone, ive got a clone ive had planted for about 3 weeks now in a hydro setup,

Hey, got a clone from a friend that rooted well and i've had growing for about 3 weeks now in a hydro setup with a 400watt HPS light, it seems to be going pretty well apart from a few probs.

The newer leaves are quite bright green even yellowish towards the tips and outsides and some of the older ones are getting a few yellow blotches too.

Up until about 4 days ago i was using rather low nute levels (16 EC) with my tap water already having a level of 6 which i have upped to 20-22 hoping it will change things, i give it 5 mins of water every 4 hours at the moment.

I've also noticed some purple traveling up the stem which i assumed was just the strain and one of the original leaves it had since cut have started to hook a little down.

Also been keeping PH around 5.9-6.5.

Hey everyone, ive got a clone ive had planted for about 3 weeks now in a hydro setup,

your pH is WAY high! for hydro it should be between 5.3 and 5.8. that's where i would start as all the defeciencies it could be are related to your pH issue.

fill out the T/S form for best results.

Hydro Grows - Coco, NFT, Hempy Bucket...

What is your experience level? (first timer, novice, experienced...)
What type of hydro set-up are you running?

Your Equipment:
A) Type and wattage of lights. (MH, HPS, CFL's, tube fluorescents, LED's)
B) Distance from tops?
C) Reflector type? (cool tube set-up, bat wing, enclosed reflector, bare bulb...)
D) What are the bulb wattages, kelvin ratings, and schedule?
E) Is there a consistent fresh air supply?
F) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan?
G) Size of reservoir?

Your nutrients and water:
H) Source of water. (tap or filtered) What's it's ph?
I) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule.
J) What is the ec/ppm of your unadjusted tap (or filtered) water?
K) What is the ec/ppm of your nutrient solution?
L) What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? (reservoir high and low temps)
M) Does your ec/ppm show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check?
N) Does the ph fluctuate?
O) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you
spray? (Just after lights come on, just before they go out...)
P) How often do you replace reservoir water/nutes?

Your growroom:
Q) What size of closet, room or hut?
R) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off?
S) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom?
T) Are the roots long and white, or brown and slimy?

Your strain:
U) What strain are you growing? (Indica dominate or Sativa dom?)
V) From seeds or clones?
W) Is this an autoflower strain?

just copy and paste the form and add your results in BOLD at the end please. thank you.

Hey everyone, ive got a clone ive had planted for about 3 weeks now in a hydro setup,

Hey thanks, filled it out as best as i can, also most online sources ive come across and a few books i have say the optimal PH level for hydro is around 5.5-6.5.

What is your experience level? (first timer, novice, experienced...)
First time
What type of hydro set-up are you running?
Rockwool in perlite top feed recycled into reservoir.

Your Equipment:
A) Type and wattage of lights. (MH, HPS, CFL's, tube fluorescents, LED's)
1x400watt hps
B) Distance from tops?
30cm
C) Reflector type? (cool tube set-up, bat wing, enclosed reflector, bare bulb...)
batwing
D) What are the bulb wattages, kelvin ratings, and schedule?
400 watt, 18/6 at the moment.
E) Is there a consistent fresh air supply?
Yup
F) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan?
Yup
G) Size of reservoir?
30-40L

Your nutrients and water:
H) Source of water. (tap or filtered) What's it's ph?
Tap water, 7.4 i lower it with PH down.
I) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule.
Hydromino accelerant, 2 part. 5mins every 4 hours
J) What is the ec/ppm of your unadjusted tap (or filtered) water?
ec of 6
K) What is the ec/ppm of your nutrient solution?
ec of 22 recently, before then 16
L) What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? (reservoir high and low temps)
15-20 degrees c
M) Does your ec/ppm show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check?
Fairly consistant but sometimes a slight fall.
N) Does the ph fluctuate?
Yes, goes up.
O) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you
spray? (Just after lights come on, just before they go out...)
Nah
P) How often do you replace reservoir water/nutes?
Weekly

Your growroom:
Q) What size of closet, room or hut?
small, 1x1x2 ish
R) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off?
24-28 degrees on, 16-20 off, 50-60 humidity.
S) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom?
Nah
T) Are the roots long and white, or brown and slimy?
Cant really see, last time i checked long and white.

Your strain:
U) What strain are you growing? (Indica dominate or Sativa dom?)
No idea.
V) From seeds or clones?
Clone
W) Is this an autoflower strain?
Nah

Hey everyone, ive got a clone ive had planted for about 3 weeks now in a hydro setup,

did you presoak your rockwool cubes? what is your res temp?

you can do what you want with your pH,but most people around here are gonna tell you that it's high. that's where i would start.

i'm not a 'dro guy, i'm sure one will chime in and have some input.

Yeah rockwool was presoaked, res temp could be a little low as its just room temp which can get to 14-16 ish

Hey everyone, ive got a clone ive had planted for about 3 weeks now in a hydro setup,

Im thinking it might be overwatering, changing from 5mins every 4 hours to 6 hours.

Hey everyone, ive got a clone ive had planted for about 3 weeks now in a hydro setup,

Hello fyouston,

I think what you read might be the whole range of hydro. First see what the mfg of your nutes recoments for RW. But I have found that hydro in soil the ph should be about 6.3 (+/-.2), in pro-mix about 6(+/-.2) and for rockwool 5.5(+/-.2). So I too think your ph is too high.

Your temperture while your lights are on seems high to me also, 24-25c is about maxium without additional co2. Your high of 28c will slow growth for sure, this might be a factor in the yellowing leaves tho it could be other things. (maybe overwatering, but not sure about that)

I usually use PPT (a little more accurate then PPM) but I believe that a level of 2000 PPM = 4 EC. And 1200PPM (a common nute level) = 2.4 EC. Is it possible you've left out the decimal points?

That's all I see wrong at first look, hope it might help you. Good luck and keep us posted.
Keep it civil please, gentlemen. -StinkyAttic

Hey everyone, ive got a clone ive had planted for about 3 weeks now in a hydro setup,

Hey thanks for the informative post.

Yeah my bad about the EC, my meter leaves out the decimal so i forget, i think its CF value which is ec*10?.

I shall lower the PH, keep closer eye on the temp and give it a few days and let you know how it goes.
