1st effort--Thoughts?
Hey all,
Only joined on here yesterday, been looking for a forum that seems somewhat safe. This is my first grow, more of a trial run than anything else, so every bit of wisdom shared is more than welcome.
I'll leave a proper intro post at some stage, but here's what I've been up to in the last 8 weeks.
Thought since I have extreme back pain due to a Hemi-Vertibrae, and this is the only thing that really helps anymore, I thought I had better give it a go now that Bush has farked the worlds economiy. I gotta stop paying for gods free gift.
Strain:
NFI - Bagseed
Setup:
900Wx600Dx1800H - Closet lined with relective white PVC sheet
400W High Bay MH - 4000K
3 ft turbo fan (cylindrical)
small CO2 burner
Soil:
7/10 Locally made (NZ) sterilised potting mix
1/10 Worm Castings
1/10 Pumice
1/10 Full range fert pre-mix (blood and bone etc)
Gadgets:
Hygrometer, Thermometer in one
Soil probe: PH, Moisture and Light meter in one
No electrical PH meter, just litmus paper
Nutrients:
Natures Own - Super Grow Guano - Veg
Natures Own - Super Bloom Guano - Flower
African Violet Food - 4-14-10 NPK - Flowering
Superthrive since birth
(all nutes are fed at around 3/4 the suggested rates)
Epsom Salts and a bit of high calcium milk sparingly.
With that lot out of the way..
I started 8 1/2 weeks ago with 2 seeds and big ambitions.
For germinating I used the paper towel method.
The sprout went straight into my home made soil mix into 15L or 3Gal pots
Vegged quite quickly even with the 4000k spectrum of the MH, but I guess having 400W over two spindly babies from sprout helps a bit.
At 5 weeks old they hit their 9th nodes, of which I topped the 9th, leaving 8.
Small I know but hey, its a small closet.
Nodes 7+8 formed 4 main branches of which I tied down the let the other tops(Nodes 5+6) grow through and are becoming another 4 tops themselves.
Nodes 1+2 were just removed
Nodes 3+4 have been cloned - rooting
At 6 weeks I switched to 12+12 with no dark period in between.
After a week, I could already sex the plants, one had its first nuts, and the other I'm proudly showing here. Its been just over two weeks since I began flowering and she's not looking too bad at all.
Thoughts anyone?
Suggestions?
I have done a crap load of reading, searching for as much info as I could get even before starting.
The part I'm most proud of is, the whole setup including the light, soil mix, nutes and lining for the closet, gadgets etc, all up, under $150 NZ dollars, thats about $100 USD
peek at me pics and tell me what you think.
Hope to chat with ya'll at some stage.
I'll add more pics as she grows
