Found some male bananas... Week 4
I've just gotten into my fourth week of flowering and while I was doing my daily check I happened to notice a couple of male bananas on one of the girls. I had been having some pH problems that I finally got sorted out, so I assume that was the cause. Now I'm just interested in minimizing seed production...
I read somewhere that purple maxx sterilizes pollen in hermaphroditic plants and I was interested in testing it out anyway, so that was looking like my method of choice. But at 30 dollars for an 8 oz bottle I was hoping for a better deal online and came across Snow Storm Ultra, which appears to be an updated version of purple maxx at closer to 10 dollars per bottle.
If you like Purple Maxx/Snow Storm, youâ??ll probably love Snow Storm Ultra. When we first started selling Purple Maxx, we said on the label that we didnâ??t think it was ready for market, but started selling it anyway because of the extreme demand from our retail customers. After 2 years of research, weâ??ve taken Snow Storm to the next level: Snow Storm Ultra. We can say for a fact that Snow Storm Ultra is definitely ready for market.HighBuddy Reviewed by HighBuddy on . Found some male bananas... Carefully pick the 'nanas off your plant, and dispose into a samll cup with water. Get a spray bottle with water in it and spray the heck out of your plants, to the point they are wet all over. It will not hurt the plants and any pollen will be made inert. Plus spray the entire grow area with water; walls, floor, ceiling etc., to make sure you get any pollen that you missed and to ensure it is not blown onto your plants.Keep it civil please, gentlemen. -StinkyAttic

Hmm...
Snow Storm Ultra Say's it's derived from potassium hydroxide, which is considered a mutagen to living tissue. BetterGrow Hydro Online - Snow Storm Ultra by Emerald Triangle
Not too sure I'd trust my genetics, nor my family health to that stuff...even though it may be at inert levels. There are safer alternatives...like water.
Like OldMac said...spraying the pollen works. First, it sticks to whatever it's sprayed against, and I'm guessing it 'drowns' the pollen rendering it inert.
If in pollinating my ladies I have an "unauthorized release" of pollen, I'll immediatelly raise the lights and spray everything (pistils, leaves, under the leaves, soil, walls...) with tapwater. (except that which I just pollinated on purpose, and don't spray)
Rarely a rogue seed.
Use care when spraying nanners in the lady-buds. IOW, don't repeatedly spray the same nanners. Once or twice should do the trick. (creates a mold scenario)

Found some male bananas... Week 4
Walked into my flower shed day before yesterday...was 120 outside, 108 in my growroom.
But yeah...it's a tad on the warm side.
I'd taken a nap before turning on the a/c, but at least I had raised the lights and kicked-up the fan. A bit of stress, but surprisingly fine. Growroom down in the high nineties the past couple of days.
This was them today after transplanting the two in the middle, into the 15 gallon pots: (sorry for the hijack, but I'm so jazzed that they didn't hardly stress at all)

Found some male bananas... Week 4
Wow Rusty, I'm impressed to see how well they did even in this disgusting heat...
Mine took a little leaf damage when the AC when out for the last two hours of the light cycle one day... lucky enough went in to check during that dark cycle and immediately turned on the AC. Of course the digital temp was maxed out, reading 99
You cant leave that AC off for a minute around here
but they keep chugging along, fattening those buds for me.... this is my favorite part, about weak 6, i love to watch them really fill out
