Outdoor Grow Log: Purps & BlueCityDiesel
So this is my first log on here. Been a guerrilla for quite a while. Hope these pics come out. I got the seeds from Jordan of the Islands thru kindseeds.com. I started them under a Pioneer Jr. IV in a closet and kept them there for about 8 weeks. First pic is them at 5wks? Next pics are them being transplanted from 4" pots into 1gal containers. They were sucking water like nothing. I noticed and have read that the BCD (BlueCityDiesel it's BlueberryxNYC Diesel) can be nute sensitive. Much more to come Stay tuned!

Sweet! It took my pics. I thought I needed 50 posts first. So I started the seeds in March. They all germed great. Then at a week or two after sprouting I lost two of each to mice or something in my house. I also had two bagseed plants in there as well (in the bigger pots on the left) and one of those was topped by the mouse and survived. It's funny, on several occasions I've had deer top some plants only to make them stronger with 2 main stems; but then again they've also destroyed a few.

it's the blueberry genetics in the BCD that makes it sensitive to nutes. there are a couple of blueberry grow logs around, one by perpetr8r. there is also one by italiano 715.
they are both good logs full of info. they might be worth checking out.
looking good. did you throw them in the ground yet?

These are them at about 10 weeks just before transplanting into 5,7,or 10 gal. containers. Have just used 5gal in the past but bigger is definitely better. I'm growing all organic with "Danny Danko's Magic Organic Mix for 5-Gallon Buckets" taken from the Feb. 08 issue of HT.
Recipe is as follows:
3 parts Canadian Sphagnum peat mix, coco coir or pro mix.
1 part large chunky perlite
1 part worm castings
1/2 cup green sand
1/2 cup dolomite lime
1/3 cup Peruvian Seabird guano
1/4 cup Epsom salts
I replaced the worm castings with a local composted cow manure (Moo Doo) because its cheaper and easier to get. For the larger pots I just added a little more with my own judgement. Last year used the peat mix but this year I just used either Moo Grow potting mix, Fafard 3B pro mix, or whatever was left in last year's pots. I'm trying to steer away from the peat now as I'm kind of an environmentalist and the peat bogs/forests are being depleted due to over harvesting, but that's another thread. So I just water once a week (weather depending) with my homemade compost tea until flowering, then I will use Jamaican or Indonesian bat guano tea to finish them off through flowering.
Pics: White pots are BCD (BlueCityDiesel) other ones are Purps.karmathiskarmathat

Here's another pic. Also forgot to mention that a few are in the ground in as big of holes as I could dig, 2-3'deep X 2-3'wide; hopefully these will be monsters. Anyone who's ever dug a hole in New England will agree that there are alot of F'n rocks here. So they've been in their permanent homes now for 5-6 weeks and are looking great(pics soon) Although its rained here for like 2 weeks straight now so the slugs are out in full force and have killed a few last minute bagseed seedlings I started. But the Purps/BCD are tough guys. A couple BCD have shown Fem. preflowers now, so that's cool and a few Purps I'm pretty sure are males. I heard the purps males stretch wicked and a few are doing that, so I'm keeping an eye on the strongest ones and will be breeding some seeds this season as well.
Thanks shake I'll check those out. Never knew it was the Blueberry that made them so sensitive.karmathiskarmathat

you're welcome. and i can't be positive of that, but bluberry is sensetive to nutes, so i'm assuming. we both know what that can do!

So much f'n rain OMG. Saves me some time from watering but there's just too much at this point. Some of the holes the pots are in are flooded which means the pots won't drain which means I have to put them on top of the ground which sucks. I killed so many slugs today, they're loving this weather. I wonder if slugs would make a good top dressing? I've got plenty. Will take some pics if the sun ever comes out. Otherwise they're looking really good and beefing up a bit. 2 confirmed BCD females so far. peace

Not the best pics but I was rushed. They're a bit shabby from the slug bombardment as well. Put some "sluggo" down hoping to kill a few of those bastards.
Pics: 1. flooded hole
2. BCD (kinda mangled)
3. Purps . Was gonna let this one grow up, but decided to bend her.
The sun's back! I don't know what to do with myself. Today I literally thought... "omg it's so sunny, I hope they're ok".karmathiskarmathat
