    Vertical light closet setup

Hey all, i recently redid my closet and instead of having a 2x5x5 grow area, with an air cooled 400hps, i redid it into a vertical light setup closet. The specs are about 5x4x6, and its more of a corner cabinet now. I built the one side out a few more ft. I setup my 400mh vertically in the middle, sitting on top of my carbon filter, exhausting right above it thru the attic, via a 440cfm vortex. Im a dwc 5 gal bucket hydro guy, so i have the light surrounded by 5 buckets now, and may up it to 7, after i find out sex and take sum clones. So, my question is, how many watt light is best for that size cab, being its vertical??? i take it the standard sq ft method doesnt really go in this setup. As i said, right now, i have my 400mh in there veggin away, but i also have access to a 1000 watter. With the 400, the temps stay around 78, 6" from the light. I dont know if i need to up it to the 1000 or maybe even stack the 1000 on top of the 400. Any advice would be appreciated, guys. Thanks.

I'm not quite sure if this is correct but I think a lot of people here shoot for at least 50,000 lumens per sq. meter. I might be wrong on that. I'd wait for a confirmation on that.

I realise that 5000 lumens per sq ft is the norm to shoot for, but how do u measure when using an odd shaped (pretty much triangular) area, with a cool tubed vertical light. The light is shining 360*, so i'm guessing u cant use the same guidelines.

Find the area of a rectangle and divide it by half and there you go! Is it a 45x45x90 triangle? Or more isosceles? If it's isosceles you have to get a bit more fancy with your math

LOL! I understand how to figure out the sq ft of a triangular room. The thing is, i'm not using the light horizontally, so the sq ft dont matter in this situation. My question is, since i hung it VERTICALLY, do i still use the sq ft method, and just figure out the sq ft of all the walls or something like that?

Ok, so here's what was decided to go with. I'm going to keep my 400w in there, and buy a 600 to stack inline on top of it, for a total of 1000 vertical watts. The plants will have appr 1' in between them and the lights. On each 5 gal bucket, i'm going to make a vertical scrog. So, each plant will grow up the screen flat, and i'm gonna turn each 1 180* everyday, to form nice buddage on both sides of the screen. I'm gonna take sum pix once i get the whole thing finished and start a growlog. This may get interesting.
