    Odd sexual dimorphism

Has anyone seen a strain which has tall skinny females and short branchy males? That seems to be the case with these seven seeds I planted. (I actually planted eight, but one of them is not related to the others in any way whatsoever.) I got four males which were all short and compact, and three females which are all tall and lanky.

Perhaps the males took after their father's indica growth habit, the females took after the sativa mom?

Sounds as good as any. If certain traits are sex-linked the way color blindness is in humans, that could really make an interesting genetic study. Hmm.

Why would you want color blind plants...? <kidding>

    Hey JD,

What strain are the seeds you grew out and what was the source?
    I'm just curious.

BTW Rusty, I think my plants are color blind already....they can't seem to see the color green!

As long as they aren't seeing brown and black, I think you're in the pink.

I want to LOL, but it seems strange to lol now that a joke about Michael is almost called for but still unspeakable.. too soon I think... or not... colorblindness... the jokes write themselves on this one. He makes me think I've gone colorblind cause I can't see any on him, he was pale as a ghost, now he is one... the next corpse the coroner saw looked absolutely vibrant... I decided to go with it because I am one of the ones who believes he was a pedo and deserves no respect. I only feel sorry if one of his close family reads this somehow. Although I'm sure cable T.V. will do a much better job skewering him.

Anyway, I do not know the strain, but the mids were SOOOOO good if it didn't have seeds I would have thought it was some headies. In fact I carefully de-seeded a nug and showed it to a friend and he thought it was some good dro and he nearly choked when I told him it was $120/zip (or was it $60/z? I can't remember but I think I bought a half for $60). When I first hit a bowl of it I knew I had to grow it out, the seeds literally compelled me. It was even dried cured and trimmed properly which you don't get often around here without buying some "Sticky ooey purple pootie tutti fresh and fruity" you get the idea.

Needless to say it was the single best weed purchase I have ever made in my life. And from a guy who usually has garbage complete with mud, crushed seeds, seeds that look burnt (wtf?), tasting like rat poison, you've all smoked it before, and then thought "At least smoking three grams got me high cause everyone else was dry" And it's only $40/zip so if yer nearly broke.... eh... you struggle through it.

The reason I think it is probably some genetics which got ruined by going herm is that the plants were so similar in their growth and appearance until I started taking cuttings that to me they almost looked like clones, except there were two varieties, one short and branchy and one tall and skinny. So anyways, the tall skinny ones were the females and the short branchy ones were males. And my first female to show has SO many trichs. If you've seen my latest growlog entry you can tell it's going to be the BOMB although tiny. This was just flowering for sexing, not for production. I couldn't resist touching one of the three-finger leaves within the bud, and a streak of trichomes burst open and left a big visible drop of clear resin sitting on the leaf. I was so close to cutting that little looks-about-1/2-gram bud to taste it, but all the trichs are still clear, and I may not get to flower any more for some time as my parents will be visiting in a little more than a week and I may have to sell my house and pack up and move in with them until I find some work. Oh and to Florida no less. Worst place for weed in the Union isn't it?

So hopefully I can squeeze out 1-2 grams from each of my four plants (if the crappy sativa bagseed is a female) and have a smoke party with some friends of mine before the fateful day occurs. Actually, there is a nursery about 1/4 mile from my house. I wonder if they could use someone who is knowledgable with plants, cuttings, diseases, transplanting to help with upcoming poinsettia season... hmmm... I need to go over there for sure tomorrow or Monday.

    Yup JD,

Rusty had it right for sure the first time. Each plant is following it's parent's gender charactoristics. And your right, it was someone's mistake probably since this is first generation and completely unstable.

But you may have gotten lucky and got a little something that could be very tasty. Remember it is better to be lucky then actually know what you are doing....or something like that.
