I don't really think that mankind in general is scared of being loved by God but more scared of being answerable to God. We sinned against a holy God, so since God is perfect, He cannot abide sin in His presence. God didn't NEED to save us, He WANTED to. From the very beginning, He is motivated by love- in our creation as beings with choice, in our redemption, having His own Son die for us to atone for those sins, and in the future, when we are all called home to live eternally in His presence.

God is distinct from His own Creation. Creation cannot be a part of God, because then God would be have contradictory aspects. God would be both good & evil. He would be both life & death. He would be rape, murder, and theft alongside love, charity, and peace. Since good and evil are mutually exclusive, God can't be both.
God is the alpha and omega. God is everything in totality. Good and evil are concepts created by man, just as space and time are created by man. Forgiveness is not understood by man very well. We think God could possibly forgive us if we become circumscribed to a certain kind of behavior and belief system. True Forgiveness is unconditional. Otherwise it could not be forgiveness but a conditional tolerance. True Love is unconditional. Peace, MH
