    Transplant

I have eight children that are several weeks old that have been living in soil. The plants are all approximately 12" tall and look healthy. I would like to transplant these little ones to a hydroponic system that uses hydroton as the growing medium, but I do not know how to do it or if the little ones would survive.

Has anyone out there attempted such a move? If so, what can you tell me about your experience?

Or would you advise against such a move? If so, why?

    Thank you,

    Transplant

Yesterday I transplanted 6 plants from Dixie cups into my DWC hydro system. I tore the paper off the plug of dirt and then rinsed the roots clean under cool running water. I transplanted them immediately into the hydroton one by one. They're doing great now. They didn't even wilt.
My plants were only 9 days old and about 3.5 inches tall, though. The roots weren't all that big yet so I'm not sure if that will be a problem for you.

    Transplant

I did the same last night. But I used a plant that was started in a peat pellet so it was a little harder to get the roots out of it. Ended up only having about 1 - 1 1/2" long, hope it comes back, it sure was a nice plant.
