legalizing marijuana... an end to street dealers??

As a pot selle and smoker i'm kind of torn on the issue of legalizing marijuana
It would be good because now i kan have weed without fear of being busted
but at the same time i would lose alot of business

I'm just wondering what you guys think of legalizing marijuana.

If it does become legal.....just jump through the hoops to sell it legally.

Dont you think there will be people who still sell out of their own private crops...sure there will be ..just like the micro brewers that brew in their basements and sell thier beers:hippy:

I know for a fact that I have a strain that almost noone else has and noone cant get.... I been growing it since 1993....no mixing of strains:thumbsup:

Did that guy just say he's a drug dealer?:wtf:

I played this game before it was legal and i'll play it long after.I dont see legalization affecting private sale's that much,if they do sell it in store's ..my pal's and I will still be smokin' local homegrown.Depending on the tax rate we can prolly under bid the government,or even raise the price of private transaction's...

    Dive:stoned:

Maybe what he means is that he will have to move quantities so large he can't handle it, because the profit margins will be much lower. But the elimination of the cost of risk involved would probably outweigh or equalize the diminished profits. The cost of risk is just difficult to put into numbers so it gets ignored as a factor in the accounting. Just sell better quality product at higher profit margins, or sell more of it to recoup the losses. And the fact that he is torn on the issue of legalization erodes a great deal of respect I may otherwise have. He thinks it may be worth having people arrested, families split up, homes trashed, dogs shot and killed, innocent people shot and killed by police, to keep himself rolling in cash. Boo

um okay JD... the fact that families are split up, homes are trashed, and ppl are killed, is all part of the game... the moment you start selling drugs is the moment u take on the risk that these thing will happen... and if it happens 2 u oh well thats juss the path u took

i only have remorse 4 ppl who were only pedling small amounts like a few oz's

Sorry that was unnecessarily harsh. I had JUST listened to a NORML audio stash detailing a bust that took place on the testimony of a confidential informant, in which police broke down the door in the middle of the night, broke all the electronics, smashed the walls, the kids brought the black lab into another room, closed the door, the police were yelling at them to get down, they begged to let the dog go to the backyard, the police blasted the dog into a pile of blood and guts next to the bed, they smashed the toilet and other bathroom fixtures, and they finally found an indoor herb garden... but oops, it was cooking herbs, not smoking herbs. There was NO contraband in that house. So far they have not issued an apology and apparently they are not going to repay the damages. To them it's just an inevitable collateral damage, part of the price of carrying out the war on drugs. I listened to that story literally ten minutes before I read this thread so I hope you can understand and again I apologize.

I think my point is still valid though about analyzing the value of the risk you put yourself into. Is the possible sentence you may receive for your activities worth the income generated by that activity. I am not trying to be facetious, I just hope that you will find out beforehand what the crime is and what sentence there would be if you were to be caught, and what are the chances of being caught. Then try to put a money value of "I would accept X dollars to go through all of that" and see if you are making enough money on your deals. I don't know whether or not it is worth it for you. Only you can decide that. I would be curious to know what you come up with though, if you do plan it out.

Even if you have multiple baggies, scales etc.? Where I live there is a misdemeanor possession, but you will probably (they don't HAVE to arrest you anymore thanks to a recent law, but most police still do except in Austin.) go to jail. And if they find scales, extra baggies, or if your pot is divided into more than one package, including if you have pre-rolled joints they throw intent to distribute, which jacks it up to a felony IIRC, regardless of amount. Technically one stem and scales is enough. But NY is a whole different place, in fact, we have a saying about New York City. It goes "New York City? String 'em up boys!" Just kidding, that's a famous salsa commercial.

I dont think it will change too much. If you are good friends with ur person then it would just make it easier for them to get it, and sell it. But if that sweet nectar legalizes i know what il be doing everyday.
