With outdoor the amount of effort you put in usually directly reflects your yield come harvest time. Carrying water, adding nutes, carrying in good soil, properly prepping your garden, are all examples of work that a person can choose to do or not do. It usually helps to find a location that is down hill from where you park so you dont have to lug heavy water uphill. If you have a good soil mix you can add enough nutrients to the mix to get you through vegging and started on flowering. This way rain can water your plants and they are still getting the nutes they need. Then come flowering time you may have to mix some omre nutes into your soil.
So to answer your question, if you just water the plants they may give you some yield, but no where near the yield of a nutrient happy plant.
GOOD LUCK

He's definitely hit the nail on the head. Most of what we do is quite a hassle.....and risk, but nutes can make the difference, so for a compromise I use slow release foods in pellet form. No carrying hefty jugs of water, just sprinkle liberal amounts and they get what they want no matter how much it rains. The cool thing is that by the time flowering is just about done the slow release pellets have been spent and the plants begin to yellow out and flush themselves of all the excess just in time.. I was using......something cote......in the pink bottle......crap....brain fart...... Anyway, I switched over to "Dynamite" this year which has a good dose of all the micronutes the name brands like miraclgro lack and supposedly lasts longer. You can get it at the HD. Damn..I should be a salesman. IF ONLY IT WERE LEGAL...AAARRRGGGHH
My posts are completely hypothetical fiction. The photographs I post were found on the internet. I only post on these forums as a kind of fantasy gardening.
