How do I get into medical cannabis politics??

Hey, I'm taking a year off before college to figure out what i want to do with my life. And cannabis politics have always interested me. How would i get into such a occupation, where i can help people get the medicene they need?

Typically the people who go out and speak publicly about it (public conferences, news interviews, talk show show appearences) are people that already play a large role in our society. These people are governers, mayors, senators, and sometimes popular tv hosts and comedians such as Bill Maher.

What you would need to is to become affiliated with the big reform organizations like norml and the MPP. You could ask them about anything that is going on that you could participate in or assist. You need to remember that also a huge element of being a good politician is having the resources to back up your movement.

This is why it most common for government officials to be campaigning against prohibition.

To add my two cents, politics shouldn't even play a part in marijuana. Politics and politicians are a mostly dishonest profession. Do you want dishonest people making your life decisions? I sure as hell don't. How many politicians do you trust??? I trust and believe damn few. Most are like paracites on society getting a regular payday while the average American takes it up the rear, suffers homelessness, loss of jobs, poor health care and nutrition, crappy products and dangerous pharmacheuticals all the while these blood sucking politicians lap it up. :twocents:

So we gotta infiltrate and "subvert" them with the truth- or replace them! The "Alex"s of the world are our replacements for those idiot politicians!

Alex, when you're back in school take a course in public speaking and a few writing courses, too. That will give you a platform to influence other students and educators.(Just don't light up after the speech! ) My list- link below- is a great resource for medical studies on cannabis. In the meantime, get to know your local politicians and write them often. Join a local cannabis group NORML, ASA, etc. Write weekly letters to the editor for all the local papers.
