can u point me in the right direction (LED)
I have experiencee with conventional lighting methods HID and CFL but want to switch to LED but After lurking and reading Weezard, Knna, and various posts I'm at a loss. Can someone point me to a site that explains the actual electronics and the function of each piece. I have no experience other than plugging lights in and wiring cfls together so any help wou be appreciated.

Hello SOG420,
Not sure of any site that has basic electronic theory, dealing with LEDs.
I can only recomend getting a textbook on the subject of basic electronics and start reading. Keep in mind that many here who are doing DIY LED lights have a bunch of electronics knowledge, I know just enough to be dangerous.
When I was building my first hi-power LED light I spent alot of hours figuring things and drawing schematics of circuts and LED layouts. Then took it all to a friend who is an electronic engineer and asked him what he thought. He looked it all over and then asked me if I was building a light or a power supply? I was using 2 types of LEDs, red and warm white and I was trying to mix them in various circuts. He simply seperated the two and simplfied things right there. He checked the red Cree's I was using and thier forward voltages ran from 2.6 to 2.7, his easy solution was to run 10 in series, with bunches of 10 in parrallel and spec'ed an off the shelf 28volt power supply.
My point is, try to find a friend who is into electronics and get him to help you. I have yet to see a DIY tutorial on LED grow lights, that will give you a true step by step, fail proof method to build one.Keep it civil please, gentlemen. -StinkyAttic
