Find out if those security lights are 110-120v.

The rigid box looking thing mounted on top of the bowl shaped reflector, just so happens to be the ballast.

Should just have to remove the reflector, add an extension to the cord between the socket and ballast, put the ballast somewhere safe up high, and hang your bulb.

I know I need a ballast now to provide power to the bulb. My question - Can I take apart this HPS commercial light fixture(see below pic), which has a built-in 250w ballast, and steal its ballast?
