round 4, this time im doing it right-soil

i have been having a really hard time keeping seedlings alive, yellowing and brown drying leave tips eventualy leading to ultimate death of seedling. i realized it was my pre-furt soil. i had to hunt for a soil very mild and basic enough so that i could finaly use my hesi soil kit. full kit for all stages of growth.

ok so i got some soil thats basicly peat moss and vermiculite with some other basic ingredients. its very light and fluffy. no nutes added, and its ph balanced

i also got "seed starter" soil, its extreamly light, airy and fluffy. it is peat moss that is extreamly fine, it also has a few other ingredients in it.

the man at the nursery said that i shouldnt buy the soil i did because i'd have to add nutes or else the plants wont grow well. i just smiled and said ok. i was playing dumb, i didnt want him to know what i was growing. i just told him i was having nute burn on some vegies i was growing on my apt patio (i dont live in an apartment ) he then went on telling me how the pots i was buying were to small . i just told him i had alot of spare time and i was playing around with some ideas, he didnt ask any further questions and i picked up the peat moss soil and seed starter.

so i planted 6 new seedlings i had soaking in water, the seedlings popped open in less then 24 hours!!!!

my other seedlings are doing OK, i think that 3 of them might competely die, i already replaced the soil in 4 of the pots(2liter cut bottles). 2 of them are so gone i dont want to even try.

if are having problems with seedlings u should try sprouting in straight vermiculite pre soaked in 6.8 ph water, always pre soak ur soil in ph'd water. also keep the soil/material constantly damp, u don't want the soil to dry out until the plants are strong enough, just spray the top of the soil gently to keep it damp as often as necessary, but not too much. u are on the right track, but remember going cheap will get u cheap results. look into fox farms products. peace.

i searched all day for fox farm trust me, what i picked up was the closest i could find. idk what you mean by cheep, the stuff wasnt that cheep.

idk why i would sprout in pure vermiculite, would i have to re-pot after a week if not 2? i get good results in soil only problem being the nutes burn durring week 2. so i got something with out nutes, and i have my own high quality nute plan.

next time i order online i will be buying fox farm. that wont be till i order my t5 lights, and that will be about the time i re-pot and go to flowering. i will be fine for vegin i hope.

and please dont call me cheep, i've spent over 400$ on this "hobby" and i havent yet even barly started......

hey man i was just puttin in my 2 cents. i wasnt calling u cheap, u seemed like u were having a lot of trouble, not $400 worth, so i was just passing on good info. do what u want and ask 4 help only when u want it. peace.

you dont need fox farm anything for seedlings. just a seedling starter mix will do.
