More than 12,500 marijuana plants seized on public lands

BOISE â?? Officers from the Bureau of Land Management and the Owyhee County Sheriffâ??s Office say they found a large marijuana growing operation in a remote desert canyon last Friday. They eradicated 12,545 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $6.3 million.

â??There were no growers in the garden at the time of the raid, but several items of evidence were seized that will contribute to the ongoing investigation,â?� said BLM Special Agent in Charge Loren Good.

The garden was discovered by citizens recreating in a remote area of Owyhee County.

Good urges the the recreating public to be cautious and on the lookout for illegal activity while in remote areas of public land. He said signs to look for are clearing of brush or timber, wooden structures or tents, garbage in remote areas, garden tools, fertilizer bags and PVC or plastic tubing coming from streams or on hillsides.

â??There is a growing issue of marijuana cultivation on public lands in the U.S., especially in California and Oregon, and it appears they have discovered southwestern Idaho,â?� Good said. â??We have teamed up with our Owyhee County partners and will be doing everything we can to deter this type of illegal activity."

Even in that part of Idaho, the plants must have been a foot or less tall. So, the price tag placed by LEO is misleading. It has to be harvestable first. Can't count the buds until they are in the bag or jar. :jointsmile:

dont know about there but ohio used to charge you as each plant was 1 kilo no matter the height. wether its a seedling or 35 foot monster it has the ability to produce 1 kilo so thats what your charged with. and as far as buds go you get charged the same for males as for females. so when you look at it like that they jujst average the weight and say this garden has 12,500 kilo potential and that many k would equal $x. its not fair its kind like sentancing a man to murder for owning a gun because there is the potential for violence to be done.
