Edible Marijuana questions

Hey guys. New to the boards. New to marijuana as a matter of fact. I have moved over to the edible marijuana camp due to the fact I just had LASIK surgery & the smoke hurts my eyes very badly. I have smoked before but I am still sort of new so I don't know what a "good" high feels like (sad, I know). Anyways, I am curious what is good amount for a new user. I had a caramel with 1 gram in it & it sort of knocked me on my ass. Then I ate 1/2 an 5x brownie & it literally knocked me out for 24 hours. Not in a good way either. I would say that was about as sick as I have ever felt. I could not even take my dog out to go to the bathroom. Not a good thing I have had a good experience with these jolly rancher style candies. Pretty good but not sure I am getting my maximum high without over doing it and being sick the whole day. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

1 garm in edibles is to much. I put about 8 grams into my brownies and a one inch brownie will kick you right back. And thats with shake.
Just make your own brownies, they are very easy to make.

So should I go with 1/2 a gram? Seems like that mite work well. Good to know that 1 gram is too much for people other than me.

I would guess my brownies have about a 1/4 gram per 1 inch brownie. And that is shake. If you use hash it would only take about a 1/10 of a gram.
