I used Ronsonol Lighter fluid, (Naptha), in the -60s. - NOT RECOMMENDED!
(It's all I had at the time. Too young to buy alcohol).

The fan will thin- out the alcohol vapor for safety and will also speed up the reduction by evaporation.
If you plan to smoke the result, you can just use the fan alone to evaporate the alcohol without any heating.
However, if you will be eating the hash oil, heating is recommended
The heating will activate the oil for ingestion.
