As you can see in the regs, no such rule is implemented. Yes, the rules implemented Aug 2008 (actually, the correct date of implementation was June 25, 2008) are the most current. Any revisions of those regulations would be posted immediately, via U.S. Department of Transportation / Office of the Secretary of Transportation

And if your company truly isnt pulling your leg, then have them prove it to you by providing you the actual official regulation itself, as it would be outlined by the DOT (its within your right to do so anyway, as a DOT employee).
