question about subbing

I have read all the stickys and threads about subbing and dillution. I have used the substitution method two times in the last 8 years or so. I didn't use any info from anyone, I just assumed it was a good idea. Anyway, I am a daily smoker and the last time I smoked was 1 week ago, my test is Monday, which will be about 11 days. So I decided that the best solution is to sub with my girlfriend's urine. She hardly ever smokes. Maybe once a month or once every two months. The last time she smoked was 2 weeks ago and it was only one hit. Before that it was at least 2-3 weeks and probably only one or two hits then too. I assume she will be clean, we got a home drug test to check, but this job is very very important and I MUST pass. Being that she is not a smoker and never has THC in her body, just one hit 2 weeks ago shouldn't show up at all, right? Anyone that has some input on this would be much appreciated. I am going to use the dillution method for myself as well just as a backup plan. I have never had a problem with sneaking in a bottle of urine under my nutsack, but I have heard people say things about a "pat down" and having to put on a gown... anyone had this happen to them? Every time I have gone, they make me empty my pockets and wash my hands and they let me go in a private room. Also, I have always used a 2oz. bottle, how much do they usually need? 2 oz is the minimum sample they will accept so make sure you fill the bottle completely. Smoking only once, you will be clean in 2-3 days. Its if you smoke more times within that 2-3 days that the metabolites are compounded in your body and it will take longer to get rid of.

If your girlfriend only smoked once 2 weeks ago, she will most likely be clean, but if it were me I'd just spend $20 on some QuickFix and leave no question as to whether or not you will pass, especially if its important that you get the job.

Also, the only time you might get patted down is possibly for a DOT test or a test associated with probation, parole, etc. Also, if the job you are getting is associated with the DOT, you can substitute to get the job, but they just started doing supervised randoms, so substitution will not be possible once you get the job if you get popped with a random. I appreciate the advice. I got a home drug test to check and make sure she is clean. I considered the QuickFix but the only issue with that is time. I have to take my test on Monday and I can't get it in time. I'll try and see who else I can maybe get some clean urine from.

For employment-related tests (including DOT), the collectors are not allowed to frisk, or otherwise touch you in any manner. They can only have you remove jackets and emptying your pockets.

That's dated August 2008. This new move where all randoms are supervised was made sometime after the first of the new year. I just got let go a few months ago from a company that was very big in the drug testing industry and I made sure to pay attention to new developments in the drug testing laws for obvious reasons. :stoned:

Well, yesterday I took my drug test. I used the substitution method as I had planned. My girlfriend never smokes, but she smoked one hit a little over 2 weeks ago. She took a home drug test to make sure it came up negative. It did. So I had her drink water to dillute just a little, not too much so that it doesn't seem suspicious. I had her pee twice in the morning and then had her fill up a 3 oz. bottle with the third pee of the day, mid-stream pee of course (I made sure she filled it all the way to the top with no air in the bottle, because the air will make a sloshing noise when walking). I used a microwavable hot pack (like the ones for your knee you get from the drugstore) I wrapped the hot pack around the bottle with a rubber band and put it in an insulated lunch bag. I took with me a roll of elastic bandage (like ace bandage that sticks to itself), and a thermometer (like an under-the-tongue one). I drove to get my paperwork and then to a public restroom to get ready. I had on two pair of tighty whitey undies and my boxers with some loose fit jeans and a nice polo shirt (look good so you don't look suspicious). I wrapped the bandage around the top of my thigh near the boys. I checked the temp (it was about 103 degrees so I let it cool a bit til it was 99 degrees). I tucked the bottle under the bandage with the top of the bottle near my ass, keeping the bottle right under my balls. I pulled up my tighty whities and made sure they were holding the bottle close and tight. Pulled up my boxers and pants and you couldn't even see it. I went straight to the clinic and filled out my paperwork and waited. It took about 35 minutes then they called me. They had me empty my pockets and put everything in a locker. I made friendly conversation with the lady and she was very laid back and nice. Where they have you give your sample wasn't a room with a real door. It was like a row of stalls like you would find in a public restroom. There was a crack on both sides of the door where you could see in, but your back would be facing the door. So I was very careful to not move around abnormally, I reached in and grabbed the bottle, quietly opened it and poured the pee in the cup. I tucked the bottle back in my undies and checked the temp on the cup, it was 97 degrees. I zipped up and gave the lady my sample. She took it and checked it for temp, wrote down on my paper that it was all okay, then she poured it into anouther little bottle to get tested. I signed the label and was on my way with a smile. I am now waiting to hear from the employer. I am 99% positive it was a PASS, but I am very nervous and I keep thinking the worst. I have done this before and I know it works, but the feeling you have until it is confirmed you pass is just AGONY!!! I should get a call today or tomorrow so I will give an update as to what happened.

dang son thats intense. when i did my drug test for a pre-employment job (which was like 2 years ago), we had our own bathroom with a real door. there was just blue water in the toilet. they didnt make me empty my pockets or anything i dont think, and i didnt have to wash my hands either. man i would have been hella nervous for that test. props for what you went through

EDIT: also when i took my test the results were instant. how come some places dont have instant results?

Can you please provide a link establishing this edict as true? A DOT link would suffice.

I don't have any links or anything and I don't really want to go searching for them either. I just found out about it on a press release that was released to the marketing department that said all DOT randoms were going to start being supervised. I guess it might not be legit but I do know the company was taking a lot of steps to prepare for it and train the MRO people for it so I'm sure its legit.

Well, its evident that your company press release is pulling everyones leg. Because if they werent, the rule regarding observed random testing would be clearly outlined in the DOT regulations. Heres the DOT link: U.S. Department of Transportation / Office of the Secretary of Transportation

As you can see in the regs, no such rule is implemented. Yes, the rules implemented Aug 2008 (actually, the correct date of implementation was June 25, 2008) are the most current. Any revisions of those regulations would be posted immediately, via U.S. Department of Transportation / Office of the Secretary of Transportation

And if your company truly isnt pulling your leg, then have them prove it to you by providing you the actual official regulation itself, as it would be outlined by the DOT (its within your right to do so anyway, as a DOT employee).
