I bought this vape at my local head shop and it smells and tastes like some kind of funky chemical!
What do I do?

It needs a 'burn in'. Run it on high for awhile. The plastic shell doesn't get hot enough to be a problem, as far as the plastic melting or giving off toxins, but it does smell when it gets hot. If the guy at the headshop knew anything at all about this model, he'd have told you about this.
