Metal Halide lamps run at higher temps than High Pressure Sodium lamps ... the simple answer

So, if I've got this correct; the more efficient the lamp is at converting electricity to light, i.e. more lumens per watt, then the less heat it should generate.

exactly :thumbsup: an efficiency rating on a bulb would be exactly that, the more efficient it is, the higher the lumen:heat ratio is :jointsmile:
