Don't wanna be...
just another pothead. It's fine being that, in fact, I loved being a pothead, ^_^. Some things in my life are happening right now that's going to force me to quit smoking, or find some REALLY creative ways to get money/weed, and to study up on ways to pass monthly drug screens.
On the Legal forum, I have a thread explaining my situation. NowhereMan said one day I'll look back on this and laugh. Well, I'm sure one day I'll look back on this, but I won't laugh. What I will do is be thankful it happened. Since last Saturday, March 12th, I've really started to think about these things. What I want to do with the rest of my life, if I want to continue smoking, etc etc. Since my ex-mother called the cops on me, I've realized that I want to try and make a difference.
I think it's literally.fucking.ridiculous what people have to go through all because of a plant. Some people get drunk, some people get stoned (some do both, ^_^). What the HELL is the difference? You're impaired either way, but, for me, weed is much better. It takes away the pains I might have from having to work harder in Advanced PE, it lets me be much more creative when I write, it lets me enjoy my music in an entirely different way, it allows me to forget about some of the troubles life throws at me. (I know it's a runon!) Getting drunk releases the "inner me", minus the stumbling and slurring.
But, this post isn't about the differences in pot and alcohol. It's the simple fact that the United States government is a fucking hypocrite. Why is it they allow alochol to be sold, and consumed, and overdosed on, but they won't allow weed to be? With weed, I'm ALWAYS in control of who I am, if I need to be in control. I'm never so impaired I can't control myself or what I'm doing. Every person I know can drive even better when stoned because they're so paranoid over crashing, they take precautions they would NEVER take when they're sober.
Anyway, I've realized just how much I hate our government and the police through all of this. I am going to continue smoking the rest of my life, but I don't want to be just another pothead. I want the ability to do something about the general public's belief on cannabis. I want to raise hell with peaceful protests (...does that make any sense? lol).
It's all about education, as I've recently been hearing. Educate the mindless masses about your situation. I don't really think it's the public's fault that they hate cannabis and "look down" upon those who smoke it. It's because of the government. Those commercials about some kid smoking and "not giving a crap" about his little brother's birthday party, or the girl who "has no morals" and steals from her grandmas purse to get pot, and ESPECIALLY the one about the girl being stoned and killing some old guy. Its ridiculous.
First off, how many people get pissed off when they're stoned? Especially when the kid is getting pissed off at a dad who is actually just trying to have a normal chat with his son about being late. YOU DON'T!! That's the point.
The one with the girl stealing money.....shiiiiit. Kids steal regardless of whether they smoke or not. It's not saying much, but I've yet to meet a stoner that actually steals from their guardian to get pot. Some of you might do it, I'm not trying to get into that.
Lastly, the commercial with the girl hitting (or killing) the guy with her car.........ROFLMAO!!!! Watch the commercial. How does she hit the man? SHE LOOKS DOWN AT HER FRICKIN' RADIO and fiddles with something. She looks up not even a second before she hits the guy. It's not weed that's the problem, girl, IT'S NOT WATCHING THE FRICKIN' ROAD!!
I know it's all about education, so I'm thinking of starting with my school. I have this site that lists a lot of good facts about the war on drugs and pot (here) (a lot more, would make many different kinds of print outs) that I'm thinking about printing out on a piece of paper, making lots of copies from the schools Xerox machines, and putting them in places that teachers and lots of other students would find. At the bottom I was thinking of putting, "EDUCATION IS THE GREATEST WEAPON! PASS THIS ON!"
I know it would work because within a 5 minute passing period I was able to get one half of the school talking about this thing my ex-mother typed up and put on our door, and I only handed out 20 copies that time.
What do you guys think, and do you know any other ways of trying to get the REAL word out about cannabis and the war on drugs??
BTW, I would put this in the Activism forum, but not many people go there in comparison to this forum. THANKS, GUYS!!Gothen Reviewed by Gothen on . Don't wanna be... just another pothead. I feel as you do, Gothen. Those commercials and the general propaganda are infuriating. A bunch of nonsense over a plant, as you say. I once believed in the common sense of people, but no more. Ignorance is the rule rather than the exception, and the ignorant are easily led. The financial and political stakes are high, and I think it'll take a lot of effort by a lot of people to change things. But it can change, in my opinion.
I'm a believer in the actions-speak-louder-than-words principle. Every time some loudmouth criminal teenager with a 9th grade education smashes a stolen car into a family van full of kids, and then says it was because he was addicted to marijuana, we all lose. And when someone who just happens to smoke is also known as an asset to his or her community in all other respects, it sends a more positive message. I think we all owe it to ourselves and to each other to realize we're under scrutiny, and act accordingly. Unless one acts responsibly, especially under the influence, advocating legalization or even a little more tolerance sounds like the most childish hypocracy to those who don't know better.
Unfortunately, most of those people who are normally over indulgent and undisciplined gravitate toward mind altering substances, and are more than willing to make asses of themselves regardless of the way it affects the rest of us. It's too bad, but that's life. A lot of our personal freedom is lost due to to the lowest common denominator mentality of society.
So, if there's any best way to get where we want to be, I'd say that we'd be better off not giving the anti-pot side any excuses to persecute, and also to unite and try to vote sympathetic politicians into office, and vote against those on the other side.
By the way, I'm in agreement with you on the alcohol vs. marijuana issue. The way things are is just insane.

This is just the sort of thing i want to hear. Getting the word out there and giving them nothing negative to grab onto is the way to do it. Id like to think one day we'll all unite and work together but what can u do when theres always that arse lick waiting to shit on things??? It'd be a better place if there were more people like the above ^^posters^^. Make sure you let us know how the leaflet thing goes, be interesting too hear what peoples reactions were like, especially the teachers.

i think it should be the duty of all of us the spread the word, the evil governments are lying to people! we don't really have anti weed propaganda over here, it's almost accepted, but i still think we should all be allowed the exercise our basic human right to SMOKE WEED, and noone can take that away from us. FIGHT THE POWER!

I've also decided to go ahead and burn to, roughly, 30 CDs the Grass: A History on Marijuana and putting it in all the teachers mailboxes.
The only problem with that is that if I do that I'll have no more CDs, and 13 Gigabytes of CDs I've downloaded, and if Brenda takes away my computer, I won't be able to burn any of it. So, that's some of my favorite music just gone.
I think, however, it would be worth it to see all the buzz around the school. What with all the copies of the Pro-Cannabis print outs, and the copies of that video going around.
I'm thinking of putting on the CDs, "THE REAL TRUTH." I'm not sure if the school computers will play it, however, so I've already burned one and on Tuesday when we go back to school, I'm going to try it on one of the teacher's laptops.
If it works, I'll burn the others, if it doesn't, I'll burn it to play in a DVD player, and give instructions with each one that they should play it in a home DVD player.
I'm also 100% certain they'll all end up watching it, and the ones that don't will hear about it from the other teachers. They're all curious bastards, always trying to get into OTHER people's business, so I know they'll watch.
Plus, there's also the fact that the teacher whose computer I'm going to test it on, she'll spread the word for me.
"Mr./Mrs. ????, did you view that CD that was put into your mailbox? It's really interesting..." etc etc etc So, she'll help me out, but I just have to make sure I maintain anonymous to all but the teachers that like me. Won't be hard, almost all the teachers do. ^_^
Whaddya guys think?
BTW, thanks to Omun for that address. When I get some money, somehow, I'm probably going to be buying that or some other kind of "Pass Your Test" type solution.
